Could you post a picture of how it looks while playing it standing up?

I'm playing a festival next weekend with it. Will post some shots then. It's smaller/more compact than I expected. It looks really sleek. I may have to reconsider wardrobe...

Good god it looks like it was almost carved out of a single tree. Love the shape, colors, very cool bass.

I had the same thought. Part of why I really wanted to use a single piece body. He matches up lamination lines really well but it wouldn't have been the same.

As for me, I'd prefer more pickups, more strings and more knobosity, But the LOOK! WOW! It's so rare that you see a new bass shape that you can say is the next level up in Bass Guitar looks, but this is it!

Did you pick it up in person or have it shipped? I've been looking at his site and love the designs but not sure how to get it from Russia to North America.

Picked up. He's shipped quite a few guitars to the US. He said it would be about $90 (which surprised me as you can easily spend that much shipping a bass in the US itself). Not sure what the hit would be on taxes, etc.

Very cool design. I like the exaggerated and functional "scoops". 26 frets, also very good. I am often missing a few notes on my 20-fret bass.
Although I find the charcoal a bit fugly, it's irrelevant. I like the green one very much, so who I am to say? Nice bass. The only potential problem for my style would be the inability to EQ on the bass.

Personal preferences. He builds them however ordered. I like the green one a lot as well but think the novelty of the color might wear off and I want this to be something that will be around for awhile. Given the other natural materials (I think the only plastics are the wire insulations, pickup bobbins, side dots and nylon wrap on the strings) I wanted to keep the colors in that range. Similarly, I chose to keep this one simple and EQ via technique and outboard. Could always switch the pot to a stacked one if I really needed a tone control. Also, whenever recording, I always have the tone full up anyway.

I am in love! I could not find demos to check how they sound but I can see myself playing one of these in 5 strings mutliscale. Price is reasonable considering they are custom made

If I do another, I'd probably go with a 5 string multi-scale. Still, this sounds great in drop D as is. I'm not sure how representative any demos would be as each has different pickups/pickup placement/electronics (he's only done about 10 of these basses). I can say this one, acoustically, sounds really defined and with no dead spots; every bit as good as F-basses and similar I've had.

Well, there still can be customs duties, etc. I also don't know if that's different going into Canada vs the US.
I just talked to him and he said he may need to raise prices if the exchange rate continues as it's been going - the dollar having declined against the rouble pretty significantly (not trying to shoehorn politics in).

I don't normally go in for that sort of look. But I have to admit that's one beautiful piece of work.

You can't avoid politics when talking exchange rates. Half the time they're manipulated purely to make a political statement by governments. That's the main reason some countries want their currency trading at high rates - national pride. Low exchange rates usually benefit the country's economy with the lower rate as long as they have a solid industrial base and a stable government underneath it all.

Thanks. I normally don't either. Usually much more vintage oriented. While I've had more modern and 'boutique' basses, currently I think my next newest bass is circa 1965.

I would love to see this exact same design, but without the single cut. All they would have to do is just scoop out that inner part and the top horn would match the bottom one. I think it would also look sharp.
