Any personal holiday traditions?

The 31st is our anniversary, so we do an early low key dinner then watch the Twilight Zone marathon.

Very profound thoughts in that clip from the Grim Reaper. You normally can't pay me to watch anything on TV, but that clips was superb.

See if you can find a way to watch Hogfather. The story is a lot more than a parody of Santa Claus. It really explores some profound topics such as life and death, justice and compassion, and the nature of belief.

Plus, it's really funny - in that British kind of way.

Oh, the usual, a triple bill of Office Christmas Party(my wife loves it), Bad Santa(director’s cut), and Bad Santa II(admittedly, a bit of a letdown).

Agreed, I like Christmas a lot but Bad Santa is a must to cut through the treacle when it all gets a bit too much.

Other traditions are all food-based; panettone, mince pies, Christmas cake, all that good stuff.

We make Cinnabon rolls with cream cheese frosting and enjoy a cup of Rostov's Copenhagen coffee after a light breakfast. Not much gets done after that

On Christmas Eve-Eve (December 23rd) The whole family watches Polar Express and has take-out Chinese while they watch.
It all started when the kids were very little. We took them to Chatanooga, TN to enjoy the Polar Express train experience. It was really well done by the way...
The following year, we just randomly watched Polar Express and got Chinese Take-Out. Our oldest daughter, who was 9 at the time, mentioned that we should start paying attention to and keeping family Christmas Traditions. That's when we all said that Christmas Eve-Eve should be one of those traditions.
My oldest is a Junior in College, My next is a Freshman, I have a 10th Grader, a and an 8th Grader. So far we have not missed a year where everyone attended Christmas Eve-Eve. I hope we never do.

Returning to an old 'tradition' this year; for most of my life I lived near the beach and have spent more of my Christmas Days there than anywhere else. For a decade or so I have lived well away from the beach and had a job where I was on call so I needed to be near where I lived. Now I'm back home.

My birthday is on Christmas, so it's always been a very busy day. For the first 10 or so years after I turned 21, my buddy and I would go out to a bar for a drink on Christmas Eve at midnight. Now we just share a glass of whiskey over Facetime.

Hmmm...that's a tough one for me, because I love a great pizza, but I'm also descended from folks who come from the South and really know how to cook great soul food.

From the day after Thanksgiving through New Year's Eve, my desktop background and screen saver are Christmas images. Here are a couple of examples:

I’m old school when it comes to holiday music. Give me Bing Crosby, Burl Ives, Andy Williams, Tony Bennett, Johnny Mathis, Nat King Cole,etc etc. I don’t like the modern stuff.

On Christmas Eve the kids and grandkids will come over and we’ll eat, drink and be merry. On Xmas morning we’ll have a nice breakfast of sausage, waffles, good coffee and maybe a mimosa or two.

It’s going to be rough this year since we lost both of our beloved cats. They were part of the family and will be conspicuously absent. I really miss them.

We watch all the Middle Earth stuff at Thanksgiving. For Xmastime, we do as we have since the mid 90s: play/sing/conduct lots of church services.
