I'll be sure to post pix when it's done.

Now, cocobolo or ziricote with (baked) curly maple??? Hmm...

(Yes, I said baked. As an experiment, a few months ago while I was making some mods, I put a chunk of curly maple in the oven at 375 for about an hour. What resulted was a popping of the grain the likes of which I've never seen, with a dark caramel color. I've got a few pieces of it left. Very cool looking. )

looks good... mod building is something I've looked at parts for, but never actually followed through on trying.

Madvapes sent out an email yesterday that has me thinking... my first 'real' mod was the vapestack, it's been upgraded/replaced with the Roughstack. They are blowing out the little 16340 or 18350 version for $30

and the one I would have liked to grab, the 808/901 Maxi Roughstack (takes an 18650) for $35

The button isn't close to as solid as the GLV stuff, but I never had any issues with mine when I had them. I definitely prefer the top button location.

okey dokey guys, my old 510's are dead. I've used them for years and the batteries are pretty much non-functional now. I want to upgrade from my basic 510-to carto setup, as it's always been on the harsher side with mediocre battery life and burnt taste.

James, your GLV setups definitely look interesting. I'm considering getting one of them with a tank (I'd like to be able to refill it once and forget about it for a week or two). What components should I get to set it up? As far as voltage goes, I've seen 5v recommended as a "sweet spot" quite a few times, could you explain the pro's and con's of a 5v vs a 3.7v?

It's not really about the voltage as much as the wattage. I like 8.5 - 9 w.

1.8Ω clearos i usually hit with about 4v ... my 2Ω atties get about 4.2v ... my carto tank (currently has a 1.7Ω dcc in it) gets about 4.8-5v ...

I have a Roughstack. The button location may seem to be good, but I don't see how you could use anything other than cartomizers or atomizers with it, certainly no tanks or any modifications; with that top button, there isn't room. I also don't like the button itself, it's too small and hard. If you vape heavily, it will make your thumb tender.
For about the same money, you could get a Bolt that can use a single 18500 or a pair of 16340 (with extension). I'm sure you already have some 16340 that you use with your GLV. Already having those batteries swayed my decision to get the Bolt, and I'm glad I did.
I have been well satisfied with my Bolt, I even bought another.

mine are specifically "[Invalid or Expired Link Removed]" for the tank I use a short 510->510 adapter (also great for using a 306 or 510 atty with a 901 drip shield).

As for Voltage, I've no use for a stacked battery mod... stick a 1.5-1.8ohm atty on a 500+ mah 3.7v battery and it's a hot enough hit for me. That said, the 901 is a *little* cooler in the mouth than a 510 and even more so than a 306.

I had a 5v USB powered pass through that was like vaping fire to me.

the bolt looks nice, but I don't like side or bottom buttons. I had 2 of the "mini vapestacks" that madvapes made before they released the roughstack. Used them from Sept 2010 to Feb 2011. The GLV was my 'upgrade' from them... the button wasn't bad with constant use. They also (like the GLV) take tanks fine with the adapter I linked to above.

Here were my MVS:

Glv doesn't seem to be accepting credit cards... or at least the ones I have, anyway. I keep getting an error message saying "could not contact credit companies, see owner for payment options". Anyone else have this problem?

I think I read something about their cc processor. Check their forum and/or call them

Yup, right from their home page:

GLV IS GETTING READY TO SET BACK UP WITH ONLINE ORDERING, WE SHOULD HAVE EVERYTHING SET TO GO WITHIN A WEEK OR TWO...... IF YOU WANT TO GET IN BEFORE THE RUSH LET ME KNOW !!"

Just switched over to Volt from Greensmoke. My starter kit and carts should be in by Friday.

COOL! let us know what you think of it.

Nice!

Im considering ordering a pink bolt for the wife. Smokerevolt has them for 24$ with the 18650 sleeve included ... With a 3100 mah battery that should last her a week ...
That's a good deal. Some of you other guys should consider one of these for a backup. It might become your main device.

I love my Bolts. If I didn't already have two I'd get one of those. I still might. Add some SmokTech 1.7 or 2.0 cartomizers and I think you'll be quite satisfied.

I like it as well as I liked my GLV Mini that I paid over $100 (that no longer works, and GLV ignored me when I contacted them about repair).

The Bolt will also take one 3.7 volt 18500 (without sleeve) or two 16340 batteries (with sleeve) for 7.4 volt vaping, if desired. I mainly use the 18500 with mine.
