any smokers switch to Vaping yet?

life just got a 'little' better... I got 1/2 of a 6ml bottle of Organic Sweet Cinnamon from my cousin this morning. Hopefully it and the 3ish ml of Sweet Tea I have left will hold me over until Thorbear's gift bottle shows up :)

The stuff my cousin sent is 24mg but I generally buy 12mg so I'll need to be careful.

Cut it 50% with VG and you'll get 12.

I think I have some zero nic vanilla I could cut it with... I don't have access to straight PG or VG.

What I have been doing for the last week or so is drip heavy on the cinnamon every 4th or 5th time I drip, using the sweet tea between. It keeps the sweet tea not tasting too much like butt. I'll have to continue the same technique :)

I got the ship notice for the order today, guess you know how long the shipping usually takes, and how long you will have to stretch your juice.

My lava tube and some juices and supplies are on the way to me too. I guess i have a lot of juice tasting ahead of me to find my favs. Currently enjoying their red tobacco, and the sweet butterscotch #2. I feel a bit overwhelmed with the amount of juice vendors, and the amount of vaping products available still - watching lots of reviews and such to gain knowledge.

I generally vape about a ml per day... @24mg I should get a little more time from it. So I'm set for about a week :) Wisconsin to NJ is about 4 or 5 days... thanks again!

Cool... and yeah, I try to ignore all that is out there. I did go through a few juice venders early on, and when looking for a mod, I wanted something bigger than the typical 808 stick, but not something that looked like vibrator. Found that 16340 loaded, top button mods worked well for my needs... started with the vapestack from madvapes and then upgraded to the mini GLV2 which I will have had for 2 years in January. No need for me to look at or for anything new.

I did clean up my MAP tanks this weekend and might be using my mini MAP tank when your juice gets here. I need to order more 901 atomizers from avid this week for dripping. I quit using the tanks right after buying & cutting a box each of the regular and XL CE2 cartomizers.

My ego twists came with the vision clearomizers, so that's all i have tried so far. They do seem to work best for vapor and taste when they are atleast half-full of juice or over. I have some atomizers, cartomizers, and tank systems coming though, guess i will have to do this by trial and error to find what i like:smug:
I like that the twists and the lava tube are variable voltage though, so i can try things with different resistances, I imagine that alters the experience aswell.

I imagine that alters the experience aswell.

That is what I've heard... I would like VV not for changing the voltage, but for regulating the output to be a constant voltage. I prefer the 1.5-1.8ohm atomizers on my 16340 batteries... I get about 3/4ths of the day from one IMR type battery, I have 6 to 8 of them all charged up and ready. I carry an extra one in my pocket if I'm out of the house for more than an hour or 2.

current tanks are a bit easier to use, mine are first generation models that take old CE2 cartos with most of the sleeve cut off with a pipe cutter. What is does do is gives the wick more swimming room and they vape a bit better.

Here is what the large and small version look like on my mods

and here is my orange GLV2 and MAP tank combo in action in a pseudo review I did. I find the whole 'public access TV' star style review video a bit silly

w00t!

my phoenix clone came today! i think it needs a few days for the wick to break in good, but the first impressions are good. i think i could get a good 12-13 drops in here without leaking ...

i also got a spare set of 14500's for Dena and a charger.

on a somewhat related note - the el preggo tank (apollo/excalibur/whatever) has had the wicks trimmed, and under the sillycone cap, on top of the coil - they have an extra hunk o wick ... which has been sacked. all the floody gurgling is gone. i think what was happening was that as the coil heated, that top wick sucked up a crapload of juice, and when i set it down, it cooled, and the juice ended up running down the air tube. now, my ry4 tastes as good as dripping, and i got 5ml of it in there, and room for maybe another ml if i pushed it. that's at least 3 days of vaping ...

Thanks again Thorbear! I got the vape-mail yesterday :bassist:

I've set up my smaller MAP tank (2.5ml, the large is has 5ml capacity) on my 2-toned mini GLV2... I once called it 'as good as dripping' and as a long time regular dripper I can now say that only dripping is as good as dripping :smug: Don't get me wrong, it's clean tasting and fairly consistent... but nowhere as good as the flavor of a high quality, debridged & dewicked LR901 (IMHO/E, FWIW, & YMMV)

On a side note: My cousin is still doing well AND she gave her second Kgo (1100mah model starter with 2 batteries) to her mother who is now off tobacco a couple days as well. She also shares her Kgo with her fiance when they are hanging out together and after a few days of it, he's thinking he needs to order one for himself :)

Any advantage of using the IMR over the Lithium Ion batteries? I see that the IMRs are a little cheaper.

I have AW brand of both types... I cannot tell which I have in by hit strength of length of day the charge lasts.

The IMR are 550 mah the others 750 mah.... the IMR is a different chemistry that doesn't need the protection circuit to keep them from exploding :) that was enough for me to give them a try and to continue buying them.

Theory is:

IMR = less capacity but can handle a faster discharge
ICR = higher capacity but will explode if charged/discharged too fast (hence the 'protected' versions are what e-cigs use).

the IMR is better suited to the atomizer's function on paper... like I said, I cannot tell which I have in while vaping.

found this in a quick google refresh of my knowledge:
ICR Chemistry -> high capacity; for low current applications, under 1.25A current draw

IMR Chemistry -> low capacity; for high drain applications, over 1.25A current draw

[edit] I forget to add, both are Lithium Ion type and use the same charger [/edit]

I use one 18500 battery, or two 16340 batteries in my Bolt.

18500 IMR 1100mAh $4.79
18500 Lithium Ion 1600mAh $7.49

I've been using the $7.49 batteries. I've been quite satisfied with them, but I think I'll give the $4.79 batteries a try.

You say it uses the same charger?

James....I don't read much on OT, stumbled into this thread and read most of it in bits and pieces today and all I gotta say is thanks. I've seen this stuff around, know very little about it. Wrote down what seem to be some decent things/keywords and sites to check out but it all looks like GAS to me....worse than guys who flip through a half dozen effects pedals trying to fill that 10th spot on their board.:D. I'm a plug-n-play guy, getting lost in all these choices, I do understand the whole voltage and ohms thing though.:smug:

I have smoked since my late teens, I'm 40 now. Heavy. About 1-3/4 packs a day, can get over 2 if drinking or staying up late. Just as a "place to get started", what would you suggest?

From what little I can gather, between 24 and 32 mg. Maybe 50/50 VG/PG and some sort of battery/juice system that can handle sucking on it all day with some left over......oh...and preferrably taste like an "analog"<-----funny term, as much as possible at least to start with.

Marlboro smoker here....reds or "mediums", nothing "lights" or weaker and no menthol. I figure if I can get past some of the initial cravings/shock for the real thing, I could then try other flavors, lower dosages gradually, etc.

Once again man, thanks for this.

I started on 24mg last year and am now down to 11mg and holding steady.

Does 24 seem to be the right spot...32 too much? I don't want to invest in this and then end up shooting low and not being effective. Lozenges did absolutely nothing for me. Pot is no replacement for cigarettes either (tried that). I'm horribly addicted and need at least something heavy nicotine and some semblance of tobacco flavor, at least to start with.

I started at 24mg (2.4%) and I was < PAD. I went to 18 after about 3 months, then dropped to 12. Been pretty much steady there since, with the occassional drop to 6 ( by cutting my 12 in half by dilluting with VG(USP)).
I will have to get some new hardware soon, as both my Volts quit, and I'm wearing/running out of the hardware pif'd to me last Dec.
You may be better off starting @ 36 in a sample size to see if you can handle that. DON"T CHAIN VAPE IT! If you find that too much, drop to 24 and go from there until you find your sweet spot. :bassist:

I also started with 24mg and now using 11mg. I was a long-time, heavy smoker (over 30 years). Never smoked menthol cigarettes, but for some reason, my favorite vape is menthol.
I tried everything to quit smoking. I was hooked bad. This is the only thing that has worked. Been off analogs for about 2 years now. I had considered e-cigs, but I never tried them until James made this thread.
Thanks James, you've probably added years to my life.

You say it uses the same charger?

yup! I'm on my second charger in 2 years... this one is a "Trustfire Multifunctional Charger TR-001" which replaced an Ultrafire CR123/16340 only charger since I was thinking about getting the newish GLV-XL when the old one popped a resister in the powersupply.

Definitely 24mg strength, 50/50 mix is good too. I still think the kGo kits are a great start, but at up to 2 packs a day, maybe a Invalid Link Removed is a better bet for you if you 'get' the sciences behind the gear.

I'll let the rest recommend cartos since I drip and haven't kept up with the new trends in atomizers/cartomizers/tanks.

I started on 24mg last year and am now down to 11mg and holding steady.

Since I was down to 1/2 a pack of lights I started at 18mg and have been @ 12mg for a while. I think my next order I'll drop to 6mg.

32mg is an option, but I think 24mg is a good call. Higher nic can make for a wicked lung busting throat hit if you aren't ready for it :)

Thanks guys. Have to do some digging around, probably have more questions. Be at least a week before I could buy any of this stuff anyway. Some is probably available in headshops/smoke shops here, but I don't know what's quality/what's cheap knockoffs/what to look for etc.

The thing to remember is that the nicotine delivery system is a little different, so chain vaping at a high nic level is always a bad idea.

You'll be able to tell the first time you go too far.
I couldn't imagine going any higher than 36mg, and even that seems ridiculous to me.
