Yes, me! They are just about my favourite basses. I absolutely love them! I used to have a Status Stealth bass and I sold it, and now I have a Matrix Series I bass that is a dream come true! I had long admired Status basses from afar and I'm so glad I took the leap and bought a couple! They just have the most wonderful tone. I can't say enough good things about them!
Excellent instruments. I have an S2 5 string and it is awesome. The Retroglide is on my list for next acquisition.
Rob Greene at Status makes incredible basses. I had a Kingbass for several years and only just sold it because I needed to fund something else. Top quality throughout. One of my favorite current basses is a Status once removed - a '95 Trace T-Bass made by Status from the first run. A boutique level Jazz Bass on steroids.
I have a Status Energy five string, which is pretty much what they made as their entry model at some point. Still, it sounds and plays fantastic and has LOTS of punch. The electronics are minimalist but pretty interesting: it has an active treble boost/cut control which doesn't affect the bass's volume in any way, it's kind of like a passive tone control on steroids.
Just purchased my second Status an S2 from TalkBass member, also have a Stealth. Great basses, electronics are awesome but do take time to get use to.
I used to have one of the original Status Jonas Hellborg signatures. Lovely bass, but it tended to go through batteries, and since it had the 36v eek preamp, swapping them out was a bit of a pain... Would love to try the newer graphite-necked version of the Hellborg (preferably with only 1-2 batteries!), or the Electro. Mike
Status basses? Loved 'em since the mid 80's. Buddy of mine played one in a touring cover band, probably a series one... but not sure about that. I've had two, a Series II Classic Headed 5 which I sold and an Eclipse Ltd Ed Custom Shop 4 #50/100 that I still own.
Man, I would love to get my hands on one of the Hellborgs with the 36V preamp. I'd like to try one of the graphite necked models even more! The sounds that Hellborg got out of his Status was incredible. I wish he would go back to them!
Definitely. My number one workhorse bass is my Status Series II plays great, has near perfect intonation, and can get about ANY sound. Can't beat them.
Definitely, 100%! I had a 1984 Series II headless for a number of years before I sold it after receiving and believing in some seriously dodgy advice, something I have pretty much regretted ever since as it was a wonderful bass! I now am the proud owner of a custom KingBass Artist in figured rosewood and walnut with blue front/side LED's! It's now my pride and joy and I seriously wouldn't exchange it for anything else I don't think!
yeah i love mine. B-2. really light metallic black with L.E.Ds on the side markers, roman numerals on fret markers. takes 3x9v batteries though but its worth it i really want a 5 string B-2 but i dont have the cash
I love the preamp in the Status basses - not only do they have the 3 band pre, there is a very useful mid switch which is just killer!
I've been a Status afficianado since 1990. I've owned loads of them and only had two weeks without one around. Not a good feeling! OMG, yes. I love Status. One day if I'm lucky, somehow, I'll be able to afford one. Major, major G.A.S.
