In reality, his trade seems like a lateral move. I don't think he'll be getting anything much different than a body change and a change in bass weight.

Of course, my only experience with either comes from a lifeless Laguna 5-string at GC. I can only speak from just what my eyes tell me.

However, my girlfriend would probably love to paint the Explorer, and I've always found the body type particularly appealing (on guitars, at least), so I'd trade too.
