Any Wisconsin Bassists out there??

"Cheesehead" might have been interpreted as an insult, so I didn't use it.

Those of you in the Fox River area have the largest number of decent music stores for a given population density that I have ever seen! It was a blast when my wife did the marathon there: Between places to cheer her on I hit a lot of shops. Has that changed? It used to be very impressive.

Mount Horeb--just west of Madison. Band is the Link Removed I believe there's a band in Milwaukee with the same name and there's another down in Texas somewhere. We've played a few private parties and are looking for more gigs, mostly at smaller bars outside Madison.

Every town of at least 10,000 and up seems to have a mom and pop store. The amount and quality of used gear that's available has gone way downhill, from what I've seen. Our Guitar Center used to be one of the best, but now there's only a few guys working there that don't blow.

Milwaukee and Madison have stunning music stores, with tons of great vintage gear. I personally prefer music stores in Madison. There's one that has two huge sales a year that drive me up the wall with desire.

BTW, you La Crosse and Madison residents, anyone ever seen The Daredevil Christopher Wright live? I loved their PBS special, which you can get to from their Myspace page

I'm in the same boat - there are quite a few Copperhead Bands out there , but my Guitar players sister had a big Copperhead logo that is on the side of our enclosed band trailer that we haul our gear in , so it would kinda suck to change our name. At least there are no other Copperhead Bands in the immediate area (That I know of anyways). I just want to thank all of you Wisconsin bassist for checking in on this thread. Pedulla-Player

I live in Madison and Whitewater.

The project I'm working with right now isn't playing out yet, and it's also currently unnamed.

I've played around Madison a little bit with a band called Erebus (not the Erebus that's still around playing in Madison).

I looked around Madison once for music stores and I wasn't impressed. Obviously I missed by a large margin. I may have been more focussed on drums that day and Bun E. Carlos lives in the area...

Anyway, where in Madison? That's a great town, but listen to the voice of experience: Do _NOT_ try to go up and down State St. having a beer in each bar. I don't think we made it down one side of the street.

Ward Brodt is by far the best; Good'n'Loud is great, the Guitar Center is good for a GC, and there's a few places like Spruce Tree Music, Guitar Studio, Msp Guitars and Guitar Shop of Wisconsin that have a few oddities.

And if you care one whit about banjos, check out Banjos by Richelieu. Its as odd as the name implies, IMO.

As far as State Street goes, you know you've taken advantage of too many of the vodka lemonade deals when you get kicked out of the handmade hat shop for puking on a chapeau worth several hundred bucks. What a day...

Milwaukee bassist here. Name: Jamie Mac Band: HEDDA. Genre: Power Metal - similar in style to MASTERPLAN. To this point, HEDDA has been a recording project with a few ex-memebers of the progressive metal band Dimension X, with John from CHERRY PIE on vocals. We'll be releasing our 4 song EP in May simultaneous with our web-site and MySpace page. I played with Paradox, Brother's Keeper, Vagrant and Rock Bottom in the old TA Verns days.
There are some great music stores in the Milwaukee area (Uncle Bob's has always been good to me), and I've always liked The Music Center in Kenosha (I grew up in Bristol - Kenosha county).
I need to find a Bergantino dealer in Wisconsin.......Anyone know of one?

Really? Todd always seems like he's into whatever he's doing and could give a **** about me. Which is why I never go there anymore. If I'm in Kenosha it's Music Go Round! The people there are so much friendlier.
