Three Beers? Wow I loved those guys. Seriously those guys were a hoot. Lots of humor and great tunes. I'm trying to remember the guys name I used correspond with...hmmm...I think it was Jesus. At one time they had on their website one of my favorite Mad Magazine covers (the one with the dog and the gun pointed at the dog).

I'm in Madison, playing in two oldies band. One concentrating on r&b/soul from the 60's and the other more in the pop vein.

Needless to say in order to make a couple hundred from me they actually lost thousands of dollars , because I usually trade my Bass rig in every few years , just to keep my sound new and fresh and to keep my equipment from getting too old. Even though I live in the northwoods , I still would have driven down to do bussiness with them. I just drove down to Milwaukee last week to trade my old rig (Genz Benz GBE1299) in for a new SWR rig at Cascio/Interstate Music. It was over 7 Hours round trip (not to mention the wrong turn that I took that wasted 35 minutes-Lol). If someone treats me good and with respect - that's who I'll do bussiness with. All the music stores in the middle of the state (Steven's Point & Green Bay) would't give me the deal that Cascio's would - That's why I drove so far. Pedulla-Player

Madison Here, Former Bass Player Of The Wizenhiemers (The First one Not second one who almost died on stage...Long story), I also used to sell Basses and synths At Ward Brodt in the 80s, Last I heard the owner remodeled the whole place and is trying to sell it., Our Music Go round went away. Dont play out at the moment.

Hey 8guy, I think you purchased my Sunn bass head and cab in the mid nineties. I used to play with the Double Naught Spies with Bruce, Greg and TJ.

Milwaukee here. I play in The Danglers - it's an upright bass, violin, and drum trio doing hard rock stuff (king crimson to zappa to hendrix to slayer). We're playing out this Friday night at Points East Pub with 2 other great bands. Come and see the only upright bassist I know of playing into a POG, a Big Muff, a Space Echo, and a Kaoss Pad!

I also play 30's and 40's pop, jive and swing in a group called Avalon Four and some singer-songwriter stuff with Heidi Spencer and the Rare Birds.

I bought all my GK stuff from Uncle Bob, he sold it to me for significantly less than Musicians Friend. That place pre-dates me in Milwaukee I did not get here until 1980 and I guess that place was really the place back in the 70s. The place looks like a Porn Store from the outside. They actually let people smoke in there. I swear I was in there once and it seemed like homeless people were roamimg around in there.

Anyway all Music Stores are shady to me. I recently purchased several basses from *Cream City in Brookfield.They were cool and nice but even that place can give me the creeps.

I've been in Uncle Bobs a couple times in the past few years and they never have shite for basses. Nothing good at all.
You might find some good used amps or cabs. They do alot of consignments too.
Cream City is probably my favorite place. I deal with Brian.
I find Casio to be way over priced. Good place to try something and find it somewhere else cheaper.

I used to live between Saulkville and Newburg on HWY I. I got my first two basses from GW Music in West Bend in the Mid and Late 80's. I also purchased a GK head (1000RB - Geez I can't even remember the model) in the late 90's. Are they even around anymore?? Pedulla-Player

I've not been to Uncle Bobs in quite a long time, I bought a 1997 Warwick Corvette Standard there back in 2002 for $650. Loaded me up with the tools and threw in a case. It's a wonderful bass.

There's a cool place in Milwaukee called "Lincoln Music." My old guitarists dad showed me the store and I fell in love. Lots of used gear hanging out (some cool new stuff as well. Bob (old guitarists dad) used to sell stuff on Harmony Central for Lincoln Music so it was nice to be able to just go in and try out any combo of amp when ever. I bought an Eden D410-T cab for $240 in early 2004.

Anyway.

My name is Ben and I'm from Madison. Grew up in the Fort Atkinson (Jefferson County) area (meaning I went to school there, but lived out in the country). I play in Mouthful of Birds which I would consider a regional progressive metal/ hardcore band. We've done east coast tours and played all over the mid-west. We are planning 36 days on the road this summer (DIY), but we really play all over the place.

Hitting the studio as of tomorrow (today, Friday, March 13th) to do our first three days of recording on our newest EP. It will be our third release as a band, first being "Eternal" (Recorded August 2007, released Feb 2008, 5 song EP), the second being a three song Demo (Recorded September 2008, released October 2008), and our newest work which will be entitled "Shall The Sea Claim Me" (Recorded March and April 2009 and hopefully released May 2009, 8 song EP). We'll be recording and mastering STSCM in Oshkosh with Adam Nero (bassist WHOLEHEARTED) who did our last recordings on our 3 song demo (unmastered, just mixed)(We have one song from that release on our page entitled "World Underwater" which will also be re-recorded and released on STSCM).

I've only been in the west side one but I assume east side is the same. Not as big of a selection as GC but it's always good to have more options. The instruments room is in the back corner.

Now that I think about it, I might not have been to Ward Brodt since Christmas of '07, so maybe they're not doing so hot. My sister-in-law (a classically trained pianist) loved to go there for supplies & sheet music, but she hasn't had a piano around for a few years now (cuz its hard to make room for a baby grand :()

Anyone ever been to a White House of Music? I think there's five in the state. One of my best friends swears by them.
