Endorsing artist: Musicman basses
I want desperately at times to make some good spirited, and (I think) funny, jokes over in the effects forum. I dare not ever attempt that again. Just looking at the avatars of some of the posters hanging out there is enough to tame me.

I also shut off notifications to the classifieds and one particular artist forum here. The 2 unsubscriptions saves me a lot of time, money and aggravation. I'm not ascaired of those 2 places though. Just know it's better for me to keep out.

Effects I'm ascaired of.

How about you?

And yes, I know there's no such word but I like it :).

Honestly, I was a little intimidated when I dipped my toe into the effects pool a year or so ago (knowing NOTHING about effects 30+ years into my bass journey).

Those guys are the best freaks you'll ever get to know here. Turns out, they are not only extremely helpful, but they also have a collective sick sense of humor.... which I can appreciate.

They have a few curmudgeons.... not unlike any other section of the forum.... but on the whole they look out for each other and have a good time.

Don't be skeert! Dive in!

Not at all. It's just an online forum.

I will say that I have met people after shows in very rural areas of the US that I absolutely wanted to "unsubscribe" from. Makes perusing this place feel rather tame.

The Classifieds makes sense. Smart move for anyone who has GAS and can acknowledge it.

I've never really gone near the classifieds...firstly to avoid temptation and secondly to avoid frustration as most sellers seem reluctant to ship across the atlantic.
Don't really use much effects but the few times I went there everyone seemed real helpful.
I haven't tried to be funny yet there though.
Amps and cabs? Just agree with absolutely anything @agedhorse says and you can't go wrong.

I've avoided the DB side as it just seems so quiet and I feel sad and lonely there. Also I can't play one...

What I'm really concerned about is the OT forum. @slobake is retiring soon and already seems determined to cause trouble...:D

I have to admit to having a strange sort of love for the DB side. They are for the most part a friendly bunch. They seem a bit more "mature" than our brothers and sisters here, but they often have a good sense of humor. I tread lightly, but usually enjoy my visits there.

Don't ask them if you should add a checkered stripe down your DB or just go the whole hog and cover it with fake tiger fur. Another no-no is asking how you can "ride" your double bass like Ray Campi.

I actually left here for a month because I felt like my posts were ignored and there were frequent rude responses to the threads I started. Now I just post in a few friendly areas and expect my posts to be overlooked.

ETA: My experiences lately here have been much better, so either I've gotten used to it or TB has gotten used to me, or both. Whatever the case, I'm comfortable here now.

Dude, if you have a problem with us, you can just leave for good ya know. No need to be calling us rude.
