Anybody else afraid of any forums here?

I used to enjoy the Pickups & Electronics sub-forum, but getting snubbed or disregarded multiple times was enough for me.

Dude, if you have a problem with us, you can just leave for good ya know. No need to be calling us rude.

:)
I don't know if anyone was really trying to be rude. I just went through a period where it felt like being new here was a challenge. I'm glad I don't feel that way any more.

ETA: Yes, I did know you were kidding. I'm actually not all that sensitive :)

I actually left here for a month because I felt like my posts were ignored and there were frequent rude responses to the threads I started. Now I just post in a few friendly areas and expect my posts to be overlooked.

ETA: My experiences lately here have been much better, so either I've gotten used to it or TB has gotten used to me, or both. Whatever the case, I'm comfortable here now.
Oh YEAH! Well let me just tell you what the hell I think about all that!!!

I want desperately at times to make some good spirited, and (I think) funny, jokes over in the effects forum. I dare not ever attempt that again. Just looking at the avatars of some of the posters hanging out there is enough to tame me.

I also shut off notifications to the classifieds and one particular artist forum here. The 2 unsubscriptions saves me a lot of time, money and aggravation. I'm not ascaired of those 2 places though. Just know it's better for me to keep out.

Effects I'm ascaired of.

How about you?

And yes, I know there's no such word but I like it :).
Not whatsoever. I've never been harmed by someone typing at me ;)

I tend to avoid the threads like “my $200 bass sounds better than a $9,000 Fodera, or posting about not using any effects in the effects forum.
You’ll get boiled in oil for that heresy ... I occasionally dabble in the tonewood debates, they seem pretty consistent & harmless.. All in all, Talkbass has been a tremendously fun & positive thing for me, I have acquired the majority of my gear on Tb. Great times here

Amps is the forum where I most often regret making a post. The main issue seems to be that there are a higher percentage of folks there who believe that various long-debated gear issues have in fact been conclusively resolved by science, and they therefore angrily or dismissively treat anyone daring to argue to the contrary in a same manner as they might treat someone who argues that the world is flat.

I’ve found this place to be pretty mellow compared to some forums I’m involved with. I’ve only run into three incidents in the 12 or so years I’ve been a member here where somebody went totally over the top at me for no reason I could fathom.

I’m not intimidated by any of the boards here. But there are several of them where I’ll mostly listen and try to learn something rather than chime in because I don’t have anything worthwhile to add to the discussion beyond asking an occasional intelligent question.

I'm not scared, but I've had a couple of creepy stalkers who followed me around TB, one who quoted me, changed the language and then reported me. Dumb@$$ that he is, he didn't realize that the database keeps copies of all posts and updates so the moderators were able to check that I hadn't actually violated the rules.

I had another guy on the forum from New York that went on line, did a search on my screen name and found some work related articles that I'd written, then insinuated that there was something wrong with me because I have an actual job. I guess it's better to sponge off your wife than to have a real job. That's even creepier when someone follows you off the forum.

Most of the people on the forum are nice; some are not nice, but not bad people; then there are a few straight up psychos.
