It takes quite a bit to get the ban hammer. I've made some comments that, upon further review, I wasn't proud of, but I guess I never crossed the line.

I remember when I first started Talkbass I got made fun of for 2 reasons ... I posted a topic that was posted before and then I brought up an old thread from 8 years ago ... But since I am thick skinned and don't really care what people think I ignored it and kept on posting ...

No matter what you post there is someone here who won't like it.

But if we all simply learn to not get irritated when someone disagrees with us then life would be a lot easier.

Pretty much all of our opinions are subjective and should be treated as such

Except for the favorites. Autonomous is what people with power have. They DO abuse it. Every country, every job, every forum.

I want desperately at times to make some good spirited, and (I think) funny, jokes over in the effects forum. I dare not ever attempt that again. Just looking at the avatars of some of the posters hanging out there is enough to tame me.

I also shut off notifications to the classifieds and one particular artist forum here. The 2 unsubscriptions saves me a lot of time, money and aggravation. I'm not ascaired of those 2 places though. Just know it's better for me to keep out.

Actually no -- speaking generally about discussion forum participation (across multiple forums I've been involved in, including non-musical ones), I've been people banned for rules that were never stated in the rule book.

The sad part is the narcissists are probably creating a list of things to do as a result of this thread! Giving them new ideas....

If you ever state a strong opinion or state that you don't like something that could be taken as a rule violation.

Again, autonomous means autonomous. Once given power, it's not likely to be taken away. I'm white as the snow on the top of the Sierras, but autonomous cops have been able to dismiss me as a POS. You don't have to be ..... to be mistreated ​
