Anybody else feel this way?

The only one I ever played was a '76 Ripper that was pretty nice. I toyed with the idea of getting it. Othen than that, Gibsons are not my favorite bass asthetically speaking.
This is a meaningful question because?For some reason I just can't stand Gibson basses, I really can't put my finger on it, but something about them really turns me off... Anyone else feel this way?
I have a Rickenbacker and a T-Bird (albeit an Epi one), they are a great pairing, very complementary.
I don't see why people are giving you a hard time on a site that's dedicated to discussing basses. I haven't played too many Gibson basses but the ones I picked up didn't interest me that much, I guess they just aren't for me.
Your dislike for them is purely personal preference and irrelevant to my likes and dislikes. Personally I love both of my T birds and don't use my P bass much at all. although its an awesome bass. I am kicking myself for not getting the Midnight Blue Rickenbacker 4003 that had the special blow out on Musicians Friend. So i am with you there completely.
The fact that you don't like Gibson basses is personal preference and when you get 10 bass players in a room you would probably get 10 different "likes" or "favorites". I like lots of different kinds of basses . It doesn't necessarily mean that any one is better than another, it means that you like one over another personally. Keep on playing what you like... its all good!

OT: I'm not really a fan either. The look of them aren't really my style.
Hate threads aren't allowed on the TB forums regardless of their intent, so don't be surprised if a mod locks this. Personally there's things I like and things I don't like from Gibson bases, but I can say the same thing of Fenders, Alembics, Rickenbackers and a host of other bases.

People throw the world "troll" around on here but apparently have no idea what it means. This is not a troll thread.
It does appear to be a "hate" thread. A thread created for the purpose of hating on a brand of instruments.
I have frequently expressed my disliking of various aspects of various basses, but there really is no point in starting a thread like this.
i love the look of gibsons but they just don't feel right to me, bass wise that is. i love their guitars.
Cannot stand the short scale length of an SG bass, or any other short scale. And I'm a small guy with small hands. What can I say, grew up with a P bass.
