Anybody know what the stock strings are for a Spector?

I have a Euro Spector LX4 (specifically, look here: [Invalid or Expired Link Removed] Birdseye poplar amber). Great bass. Love it to death. It's my regular gigging bass.

Last night on stage, there was an....uhhhh..."incident". Too embarrassing to tell you the details. Bottom line is, two strings broke as a result.

I love the sound and the feel of that bass as is. Anybody know what the stock strings were that it came with? I'd like to replace them with the same thing.

[Invalid or Expired Link Removed] says D'Addario XL-170. Seems odd since Spector has their own string line. Well I guess we know who makes Spector strings

Golly, that's embarrassing - I looked on the Spector website and looked through specs, but somehow I didn't see that. Guess I'll be getting some D'Addarios.

I have the same bass and also love it. I think their website has been updated recently, I don't ever remember seeing D'Addarios listed. I have four Spectors and the first thing I did on each was put a new set of D'Addario XLs on it. I believe they used to use their own strings in the past. D'Addarios definitely weren't on any Spector I've bought.

One would assume they would be Spector strings, but I wanted to look just to make sure. Glad I did! I'd say it's probably cheaper for Spector to use D'Addario's on the Euro's rather than send Spector branded strings over there since I'm sure D'Addario already their distribution set up there.

Hey there - I joined this forum to specifically ask the same question

Here is the thing, though,... I have a 5 string Euro LX Spalted maple, with EMG's. I have had it about 6 years and have not changed the strings on it. I am a guitar player, so I was not gigging with it (though I have used it many times.) However, I have switched over to gigging bass and decide to put new stings on. I got the D'Addarios (Nickel Wound, the only medium strings they had) but here is the thing - the strings I took off were def NOT D'Addario's. All D's have colored balls on the ends of the strings (guitar strings as well) - the stock strings on my Spector were medium gauge (for sure) but..they have a red cloth wrap on both the top of the strings where they go into the tuner and right above the ball that sits in the the bridge.

Do ANY of you have ANY idea what kind of strings these may be? The reason that ask is that I really, really like them and want to replace them with the same brand. I have tried DM Blue Steels and the D'Addario nickels and I do not like either.

+1, Or if the strings appear to be nickel plated, my guess would be GHS Boomers. GHS Boomers are what I prefer to use on my NS4CRFM Spector.

But considering you didn't care for DM Blue Steels, -which to me are a bit similar feel-wise to Rotosounds, and D'Addario XL's, -which to me are a bit similar feel-wise to GHS Boomers, you may want to experiment with a few other brands.
