Anybody play in drop B? How did you do it?

I currently play in a band in which guitarists tune in drop B, I tried to tune like them, but I discovered I couldn't find any string gauge which work (for me of course) in that tuning, so in the past years I simply keep the bass in standard tuning (BEADGC) and just change the way I play songs, in the beginning all of the 9th were a problem because it's a position for the left hand which I (almost) never used before, but now, after a few years it feels like a 5th to me, I think (expecially in a metal enviroment) what you should care the most is to have the lowest string tuned like the guitars (or lower), the rest is just left hand positions

There's one string to detune then, right?

If yes, why not get Hipshot Detuner? Or simply retune before song, if extra weight is an issue? Unless you play in high positions of detuned string, intonation change won't be audible.

"B" in many musical traditions is what we call a B flat.
(Well, what *you* call: I call it a "Si bemolle".)

B natural is called "H" in those traditions.

Yup, Central and Eastern Europe uses logic putting H between A and C
But there's a B as well. World calls it B flat

Actually, I must admit that it does not make sense to me, given that other notes have # and b designations (accidentals). I am not immediately grasping the logic for why the B is treated differently. It's not as though the H note is located between the G and the A.

It's explained in the third of the links I gave you.
When B was flattened (in the appropriate keys), it was notated with a cursive "b", whereas B natural was with a Gothic-script "B". The former stayed "B", the latter graphically evolved into "H".
