Nothing, but this ad is timely.

I have no luck in any of those giveaways, but I do have a gtr player friend who's won several guitars and all kinds of accessories from different giveaways. He doesn't go out of his way to enter billions of times or anything like that. He just has that mojo in all aspects of his life. So rest assured that someone out there is winning stuff it's just not us...

I had a friend who was like that. I could buy a thousand scratch off lottery tix and not win $2and he could come up the next in line and buy one and win a grand. Saw it happen once. Luckiest guy I ever knew.

Not music related.

A co-worker’s Mother-in-law rolled up the rim on a Tim Horton’s Cup and won a Honda Accord. She took the cash value less taxes.

I stood in line next to a guy once who had won a Ford Tempo on The Price is Right. He said in hindsight he would have taken the cash...

I saw yet another SBL giveaway video in my YouTube feed. It got me wondering if anybody has won anything similar. I'm sure the old cats here (most of us) remember when Bass Player would run those two-page giveaway ads "of over $20,000 worth of gear!!" The BP ones would often include a box of strings and stuff to go with the new bass and rig. It was a lot of Warwick during my reading days. Surely, somebody had to actually be winning these things.
I always enter all those contests. Drums, bass, guitar, whatever. I've never knowingly won one. Like notified I was the winner of anything.
But one day I got a Sure 58 in the mail!
I never ordered it so I have to assume it was from one of those contests entered. Go figure

Around '97 or '98 I won a Squier strat in a contest. It was signed by some guy named Jude or something... Never knew who he was and the sig has long since rubbed off. Not a bad guitar for the price I paid.

I also won a trip to Hawaii when I was about 7 or 8. The family and I were in a store and my little sisters and I were causing a ruckus. My mom sent us over to the contest entry display and told us to fill out entries to keep us quiet. Mine won. My parents took the trip of course, and I've never been to Hawaii.

I won a Facebook contest for the previous Megadeth album. It wasn't actually put on my Megadeth, just some random metal page that I follow. I had completely forgotten I'd entered, then several months later, got an email about being the grand prize winner. Then like.... six months after that, I got a massive box of swag; the album, a signed poster, a strange coffin thing, a tin full of picks, a t-shirt, a hoodie. I'm not even a huge Megadeth fan, but hey, free swag!

I also won a promotional inflatable crocodile promoting the original Crocodile Dundee back in the 80's.

At the Lords of the Low End event I won 3 packs of strings and a Genzler Magellan 350 head (used it last night and it is amazing). I won a D'Addario grab bag at an Aguilar event. Also won strings and a T-shirt a 2 Fodera clinics. This was all in the last 3 -4 years and I never won anything before that...so there's hope

I haven't won anything music related. Did win a $2600 ticket package for 4 to the inaugural Indycar race weekend at Barbers Motorsports Park just outside of Bham, AL. Had a great time. I've won some other cool stuff from time to time, skydiving gear that I needed was probably second best to the Inday car weekend.

Then one time, taking a page out of the play book of a lifelong friend who is like my brother, I signed him up to win a Corvette at an info booth at Talladega Superspeedway.

Oh did I mention that part of the registration for the giveaway asked if you were in the market for a new car? Of course he was, he just didn't know it :roflmao:

He had car salesmen calling him for a month trying to sell him a new car.
