I built this fuzz pedal in 1989 using a schematic from a book, perfboard and parts from Radio Shack plus some bits from the junk room at my college radio station, including the funky previously-used enclosure.
Information was a lot harder to find then, as were a few components. There are some subtleties like using the input jack to switch the battery power that I did not know about. I never did have a good stomp switch, so it wasn't something one could really use on stage. It sounds pretty cool though, and goes into some crazy radio station from outer space noise with the Fuzz all the way up.
Now that there's tons of information on the web, I retraced the circuit and found that it's a 2-transistor silicon Fuzz Face variant with an added RC tone filter switched in/out by the dark/bright switch. I don't know the source of the original schematic. It has some different values from a Fuzz Face and I don't recall if that was the schematic, or me substituting components given my limited supply and knowledge.
