afaik its only available in black and "white chrome pearl". I incorrectly described it as blizzard pearl above. The white chrome pearl sorta looks silver sometimes, and white others. Depends on the lighting.

Anyone check out a blacktop jazz yet?

This has to be a sign from above!! I recently converted to P-Bass w/flats after playing Jazz w/rounds for years. I was talking with my drummer like 2 nights ago about how I loved the P sound in the mix but truly missed my J body style. Thank you God! And Fender

I used to own an 80s Precision Elite II in black with the dual P pickups. Heavy hard maple body. Humungous Schaller-Fender tuners and bridge. Weighed a ton, but the tone was actually not so great. My previous bass to that was a Squier MIJ P, and it was much, much better and lighter.
I got to play both blacktop basses.
The jazz was fine, sounded a bit like a PJ but a bit more hollow. I REALLY liked playing the E and A strings with the bridge pup solo'd. They had a deep growl that I thought sounded cool. The D and G strings on the bridge pup solo'd sounded a little thin. Both pickups on full sounded unremarkable
They do look awesome!

I own a American P..and what I liked was a P Bass tone with a MM twist...I think it was a good move on Fender!!
If you read the specs on the Fender site they are the same......
This is also incorrect. 1.5" on the Jazz and 1.625" on the P.
Please do your research before attempting to provide easily-verifiable information.
Which part? The Bass is on lay away..the specs are the same...the color is awesome,,,, so which part is incorrect? I think it is great when a company tries something different.. Music Man has been doing some great things lately and I hope other companys do the same....you may have a different opinion....
The neck specs are NOT the same. It's not my opinion....it's a fact that is easily checked by reading the Fender website.
The Jazz has a 1.5" nut.
The Precision has a 1.625" nut.
You can check the website if you don't believe me. I won't wait for an apology.
I played one yesterday. It's a big, fat P neck. It does not feel like any Jazz I've ever played.
