Anyone else addicted to cabinets?

I currently have 9 cabinets, I’m in one band… we gig once or twice a month. Do I have a problem? The list so far is;
Bag end s15

music man 210rh

music man 115rh

(2) GK 410 mbe ii

Markbass New York 151

seismic 212 loaded with tecamp speakers (poor man’s Tecamp s212)

hartke 410tp

peavey 215d

ampeg svt48he 4x8

to me, cabinets make more of an impact than amp. At least that’s my justification. Anyone else collect big, heavy, eye-sores, or is it just me?

Not addicted to “cabs”, but I’m pretty addicted to my cabs. 2 Eden D series 210 cabs. One is an XLT for a top cab, and an XST for the lower.

At this point, not really interest in anything newer, heavier, or has more or bigger speakers.

Where's SVT Bob when you need him?

Good thing the floor looks to be cement.

I see nothing wrong with you having nine cabs ......unless you only have one amp .....that's a sure sign of your needing professional help. The only cure is to run out and buy a second amp......please !
imo, best to have at least a backup amp,

but one amp you like can work with many different cabs. :)

C'mon, man. Nine cabs is OVERKILL. Jeez-o-Pete! Wait ... I also have nine. :D

  • 3 Trace Elliot Elf 1x10's (p/o my main rig)
  • 2 Hartke HD112's (was p/o my main rig, went to the Elf 1x10's to reduce weight, but I may use them for a few upcoming outdoor gigs)
  • 2 Acoustic BN112's (I leave these at our rehearsal space)
  • fEARful 12sub and midrange headcase (I built these myself; always intended to build a second sub, just never got around to it. I soldered the crossover and wiring in the headcase; I'm lousy at soldering, which is probably why I get some scratchy/crackly sounds coming through. I really should get that fixed.)

Glad to see I’m not alone. I do have more than one amp. I have a Markbass players school combo that I pair with the New York 151 as my main gigging rig: I loaded both Makbass cabs with Peavey black widows, and it’s a great gigging rig. For bigger outdoor stuff I use a Hartke HA7000 with 1 or both GK 410s. My backup head is a TC electronic BQ 250. Thanks for responses btw.

How do like your Music Man 2x10? Do you use it for bass? Always been curious about those.

I love it! I do use it for bass, only for rehearsal tho. It still has the original alnico speakers and I’m always nervous to push them hard, although I usually drive them with my TC Electronic BQ 250 and it takes it no problem. I actually had it listed for sale locally and I had a buyer lined up, he was coming from a couple hours away, so the night before I decided to plug in and test it because at that point I hadn’t used it in awhile. Glad I did, because I fell in love all over again. I had to tell the guy I couldn’t sell it and he was less than pleased with me. Oh well, poopie happens. I’m not parting with this cab lol

There's not much of a market for music gear in outer space, sheer coincidence?
Do you have statistics to back up that claim?:) Do all TB members accurately state their location? I mean Sea of Tranquility Craigslist is hopping right now. Versatile bassists are in demand in the Delta Quadrant. If you don't have the Collective implants bring your IEMs.

Those instruments in the cantina in Mos Eisley would be vintage when listed in the adds.

I am addicted to speakers in general lol. I have spent a rediculous amount of time and money on speakers (headphones, iems, studio monitors included) ... As for cabs..well they sneak up on you for sure. I have way more than I will ever use. Ashdown Cl610, Mesa Powerhouse 8x10, a fearful style hybrid 2x12 cabinet, my 15" mesa walkabout combo. Have more than every base covered with all of this.
