Hmm...I used to have 7 cabs and still have 5-cabs left after donating 2-cabs to a local church. I really only use three of them:I currently have 9 cabinets, I’m in one band… we gig once or twice a month. Do I have a problem? The list so far is;
Bag end s15
music man 210rh
music man 115rh
(2) GK 410 mbe ii
Markbass New York 151
seismic 212 loaded with tecamp speakers (poor man’s Tecamp s212)
hartke 410tp
peavey 215d
ampeg svt48he 4x8
to me, cabinets make more of an impact than amp. At least that’s my justification. Anyone else collect big, heavy, eye-sores, or is it just me?
• 1ea. DNS-210 cab by DNA - I use this with an 800-watt amp for all my indoor venues. It's a very LOUD and clear cab. It gets used far more use than any other cab I have.
• 1ea. DNS-410 cab - I use this for outdoor venues and music festivals. I consider this my best cab.
• 2ea. Eden EX-112 - I use one for small venues like brewpubs, where it's enough for the room and I can carry amp, gig bag, cab, and bass in or out in one trip. It sounds great in small venues. I actually have two of these because I would to use two of them for medium-sized venues before I bought my DNS-210 cab.
• 1ea. Sunn B202 (212) cab - used this in connection with an earlier cabinet back in 2006. It only handles 100-watts and my bass amps are too much for it now. However, with its two 12's its a nice match to a guitar amp. I don't really need it, but I got it for a low price, it looks cool, and it sounds good. Can't really use it for bass anymore but works fine for guitar.
My main concern on limiting my cabs was my storage area. I have a small sauna in the middle of the house that has always been used for storage. Has a bench on each side and is probably about 8 feet deep. Besides my amps and cabs I also have all my fly-fishing gear in there, my beer brewing gear, and my wife's telescope. Also have a number of guitars there too. Now I can at least walk half way back without pulling anything out to get in.
