Anyone else alone and bored on new years?

My Mom has advanced and aggressive colorectal cancer. I'm the caregiver. So i'm just chilli'n and making merry phone calls to loved ones and friends.

New Years celebrations have often been disappointments back when I was a free bird. I've found that the best times come when you least expect them. This perhaps is a function of the flawed high expectations expectation. ..... huh?

Allright, I'm going to say this once.

I

HATE

NEWYEAR

Ooh, that's better. I think Newyear's is the most pointless holiday in the history of mankind, celebrating an utterly insignificant event, topped off with a sh*tload of hypocrisy versus colleagues and just about every family member you can't stand! I hate the forced partying and the whole feeling of "now you better party or else"!

So I'm glad that's over for another year :smug:.

Ya know, I have never EVER enjoyed new years. All the ceremony is BS.

If you are going to work out, quit smoking, practice more, stop stuttering, etc...

you should have the will power to do it without a freakin' holiday.

new years is just a guilt trip.

I may stop drinking soda, but come march or april, i will totally be at it again.

So if you want to lose wait, start when you decided you didnt want to die early.

If you wanted to quit smoking, quit when you decided you didnt want to die early.

If you were giving up soda, you should have given up whenever you decided it was your resolution.

All resolutions are just something for people to fail.

If you really have any desire, you wouldn't need the motivation of an internet message board were, for the most part, indentities are concealed. Just go out there and walk, jog, or lift weights, No one else working out is judging you.

Well, as predicted, I had a terrible New Year. It involved being bored and alone.

Yesterday morning, I was convinced that I was still going to be at work at midnight - I was sure that when everyone else was partying I was still going to be mopping the kitchen. As it turned out, I finished at 11.50pm, so I ran straight to the club where I was expecting all my friends to be. Managed to get into the club before midnight, ran around looking for my friends. Couldn't find them anywhere. It hit midnight and I hugged some random girl. Went outside to phone up people to find out where they were. Due to the phone networks being totally overloaded it took me half an hour to get hold of anyone. Turns out that they changed their minds at the last minute and went to a party on the other side of the city instead of hitting the bars, but neglected to tell me. I walked home alone.

To add insult to injury, I left my coat at work so that I wouldn't have to deal with it in the bars etc, and it was FREEZING cold. I could just have walked straight home after work and been warm and dry, and much less disappointed.

I celebrated NYE by eating a baked potato and watching a Take That gig on the TV.

Least you hugged some random girl, giggidy..... :D

I do the same thing every New Years. Go snowboarding. It is great because the hills are absolutely dead, by the end of the night I figure there was about 10 other people, beside the 5 people I was with. You don't even have to take your foot out of the binding. Then when the hill closes, we go out to eat. A fantastic way to ring in the new year.
