Anyone else bothered by rare steak?

I keep on hearing stuff about cattle and pigs being loaded up with antibiotics (usually referred to as a bad thing...). I suppose part of that is for suppressing tapeworm....

Nope... at least not in cows.

In cows antibiotics are mostly given due to the acidosis caused by the all corn based diet - basically cows can't stand to eat corn all the time... but we force them to so they fatten fast on feedlots. Problem is - you have to pump them full of antibiotics to keep them alive on that diet.

yup. cows on corn feed would die in a few months anyway if they weren't slaughtered.

have you tasted grass fed beef? i'm afraid i've grown accustomed to corn fed...for better or for worse. the grass fed is a little too gamey for me.

I don't know what it is but, I have a serious dislike or phobia, of eating rare or still pink steak. Anyone else prefer their steak well done?
YES!
And aside from steak ESPECIALLY HAMBURGER! You're a fool if you eat your hamburger meat pink. And you're begging for a painful death if you eat your pork anything less than well done. But back to the steak...yes, rare is gross. I don't even do Medium Rare; I request my Medium or Well.

I like mine medium - just a little pink in the middle. My father-in-law on the other hand, orders his filet mignon thus: "I'll have the filet mignon. Butterfly it and burn it." It runs in their family - the rest of them just order it well done, though. When they come over and I'm grilling steaks, it just kills me to cook them well-done, so I just take them to the point where the last bit of pink is gone, and no further.

My wife is like that! I tell her 'leave it for 5-10 more minutes' but she just can't do it! I do not eat anything that is not fully cooked. And some things (chicken, turkey, burgers, fish) I like them cooked almost dry! I'm not a big steak eater in the first place!

I used to work as an EMT with a guy who had been a steak cook in a restaraunt. He said the same thing. It PO'd him when people wanted their steaks well done and he either wouldn't do it or he'd burn them on purpose. I asked "why?" He told me, "cuz that's not how steak is supposed to be done!"

But I told him, "Why do you care? You're not the one eating it." In his case, he was being paid to cook steaks to order which it sounds like he failed to do. In any case, why would you care how someone else wants the meat cooked?
