Just got this beauty with the Pau Ferrero on the left in as a "2019 used" for $699 shipped and immediately jumped on it without even seeing the picture. They sent me an unplayed, unsetup
Fender Vintera '70s Jazz Bass Aged Natural sorry I'm seeming louder now, but if you've seen my thread about the deal, you would have found out already that I'm terrible and math and just miscalculated things
But yeah got me the best darn Fender I've ever played!! I bet your Deluxe AO Active Jazz Ultra Elite Performer doesn't sound like mine!! ONLY Fender I'd say MAYBE is AS GOOD as this bass is the MIM Geddy but good luck getting one. This is the best option for a "late 60s" style 70s Jazz Bass if you catch my drift without sacrificing the pure low-end tone of a passive pre-amp.
Really beautiful bass. I'm in love with this bass guys, I'm serious. I've been sleeping next to it the past 3 days because of my compulsive urge to wanna play it whenever I wake up just to remind myself I really did get the Fender of my dreams for 700 shipped <3 thank you so much to whoever put that bass up on the used section lol.
And before the purists come at me, I'll say NO, the USA Geddy and the Highway One Basses are NOT better than the Vintera 70's Jazz!! You might find some AS GOOD. I find no improvements to be made to this bass. I'm AFRAID to touch the electronics just to check the pots because the frickin "70s coiled" pickups sound so good. I would really love to hear from someone who's actually played one of the new MIM 70s Vintera Jazz basses that loves a thin neck tell me what they think of the bass with thinnest neck I've personally ever seen on a Jazz.
But it tapers out sooo nicely by the 7th fret and by the 12th you have such beautiful fingerstyle thumping happening the pickups just sing and this thing isnt even setup yet. Super high action. I love every little part of it.
This is officially the bass that once it's gotten here, I've spent the longest amount of time addictively playing it till my hands hurt from the high action the first day. First day played 7 hours straight then fell asleep and woke up and my hand hurt. Took a Toradol and played 4 more hours and then took a day off, now I'm getting ready to play all night again. Got the bass four days ago....
Gotta go.... the amp calls.....

Here's the Vintera -> Acoustic B50C Practice Amp -> Mic'd with Warm Audio WA-87 -> Focusrite 2i2 3rd Gen -> FL Studio (Only used light compression with one compressor: the 1176 from Waves, or namely the CLA-76)

You were right to thank them for saving you money.
Buy the bass from someone if you must, go back to that store and demo another pedal with your new Jazz.
. And I'm a Federal worker, so it's not like we're high on the hog or anything. Oh, and we are in our 50s, and have adopted our grandsons a few years back now aged 6 and 9, so....most stuff we do is for them
