Why is that? I dont doubt that it may not be the most effective plan, but even here on TB it seems that most people are spending the money on goods and services, as opposed to banking it or investing it. Whether a good idea or not, people are generally using the money for the intended purpose.

My check was about 200$(not in the states) but I couldnt resist.
Sold more expansive gear before that,added some money.
My first brand new bass.

Very nice. Congrats. No, I didn't buy a bass with my stimulus check. It's in the bank. But the whole purpose of the stimulus check was to help stimulate the economy. You did your part.

The $1,400 stimulus will perhaps cover the income taxes that I owe on my Federal supplemental unemployment from last year (the "extra $600 per week" thing). There was no option to have them tax that money up front, so anyone who got it is on the hook for about $100 per week that they received the extra $600.

Uncle Sam is gonna get a fat-ass pay day from all of us this year and next. Half the nation has been placed into serious tax debt by "qualifying" for this money. People who are used to getting money back every year are going to end up anywhere from getting nothing to owing thousands.

As opposed to giving us another check, they should have forgiven unemployment taxes during the pandemic. But they'd rather dole out a [relatively] little bit of cold, hard cash now, and put half the nation in serious debt to them.

That's more of a problem with unemployment not withholding taxes and recipients complaining about withholding it themselves than it is a problem with the existence of unemployment payments and practice of distributing relief. I guess we could go ahead and do nothing until this is all over though.

What stimulus? I never got one even though I qualified for the first. Neither did my daughter and she's a minimum wage worker who was on food stamps for a while. She hasn't received any of them.

The stimulus checks were supposed to have been issued in whatever way the regular refunds are given. If you get the refund through direct deposit, that's how you'll get the stimulus. Same as if you get the refund by physical check.

Same here. My stimulus check basically covered my utilities, cell phones, and cable/internet for the month...
The stimulus went by 2019 tax returns...and I worked my ass off in 2019...2020 not so much, and I could have really used a good stimulus check thanks to 2020.

Same here. But annual bonus in early March has led me to build a bass thru the Fender Mod Shop. Will post an NBD when it's complete.

Company I work for just got a "new" president, and first order of business was to cut 30% off the top of our annual bonuses.

I bought this Squire 70s CV P-bass with the first stimulus money . I changed the black pickguard with this tort one . Next will be changing the pots & cap and installing a Gotoh hi-mass bridge . I bought a DiMarzio DP127 pup for it but I'm gonna leave the stock one in for the time being as it sounds really nice . The fit & finish on this bass is flawless . IMO , this Squire offers a lot of bang for the buck .
