Anyone else completely happy with their rig?

Completely random and off topic. My dog is happy with my bass as well.

That's an interesting question. I've had rigs I was completely satisfied with and could've easily kept given the then-gigging situation. (Kern/Crest CA-9, Acme B4 comes to mind as rig #1 of all time) However, when the better mousetrap comes along, you want to give it a go. I am in a place right now where I'm not 100% completely satisfied with my rig based on various considerations, mainly ability to dial in a tone that works and for me, ease of haul-in and setup/tear down.

For instance, right now I'm "in to" the micro scene and have gone between my Walkabout Scout, and 3 Micro heads used with my lightweight Schroeder 1212BMF: EA Micro 550, Shuttle 9.0 and MB F500. In addition, I double, and have a 2ndary micro system I'm trying to make work for the electric upright, that being an EA Micro 550 into a EA Wizzy 10. For the BG stuff, I am going to settle on 2 of the 3 heads currently getting stage time, then flip the odd man out, using one as primary, the other as back up. At this point, I can sacrifice maybe not getting to my ears the "kick butt" "completely satisfied"tone, in favor of the factors that become increasingly important as my body wears down, that being as said above, the load in from basement to vehicle, the haul in at the gig and the set up/tear down factors. I even find that as recently as a year or two ago, where I was bringing 2-3 electric basses to the gig, I now only bring one. So there you go.

Loving my new to me SVT II pro run through my SWR Goliath Sr. 6x10.

I have an SWR 750x head that got me through 3 solid years of heavy touring without any maintenance required, but this SVT's tone is just smashing... it sits in the rock mix so much better than the 750x.

I find the SWR cab to be a great compliment to the SVT head. The punch and clarity of the cast frame speakers with the shovel to the domepiece SVT give me a killer rock/heavy tone while still maintaining fidelity in the high registers.

I'm on the search for a good P bass, which, when added to my Warwick 5 string and Ric fretless, will complete my setup!

The only thing that'd make me happier about my rig would be for someone else to cart it, set it up and break it down so I could just plug in, play, and leave at the end of the night.

Then again if somebody did that I might not care all that much what the rig was.

:)

I am just a hobbyist player who spends to much time on this forum. I have settled into 4 ohm Schroeder 15L (custom built with a cab the size of a 1215L) with a G&K MB200 and a VT Bass Deluxe. Just cannot say enough about the sound. If I need louder than I add my Schroeder Mini10L and use a GenzBenz Neopak.

For my current situation, I am. Going on two years with my GK400RB into an SWR Bigfoot.
If I were going to tour again, I would want to have an 810 and a more powerful head, but for the semi-monthly gigging I do, this is the ideal setup for me. Now that I have a sansamp VT Bass I get everything I could possibly want from my rig.

Short-story-long…

My big rig I rarely use to gig, a six-space Grundorf rack full of goodies over two Fender Pro 410s, but it’s just used in the rehearsal studio now.

I did use it all once on an outside gig, then a few times with the rack and one 410, but the rack was too heavy to justify, so I decided to get something smaller.

I picked up a used ‘90s GK 410 cab from GC for $150 (still not sure what it is exactly, but it sounds good), then, because I don’t want anything on the floor, a Line 6 HD400 because it’s got a tuner and compressor.

Bass is a Fender MIM Jazz V with quarter pounders and DR nickel Lowriders.

I lust for a Precision V, but it’s hard to justify $1300 for a bar axe, so I’ve been holding off, especially since I sponsor the whole friggin band, which costs me a bundle.

I think about a newer lite combo, but they don’t have one with a tuner and compressor (again, I refuse to have anything on the floor), so until/unless someone comes up with one, I’m gigging what I have.

Besides which, the band trailer is full of heavy gear, five guys lugging stuff, so it wouldn’t be so much of a benefit for me to have a small/light rig.

All that said, I can say that I’m happy with what I’ve got.

as for GAS, there's pleny of PA and recording gear to appease that, haha.
