Anyone else disappointed w/ eden wtx264?

If that's what he's using then the cab is part of the problem. Per this Invalid Link Removed that 410 has the same output as a 210xst.

That being said I can keep up with a moderately loud drummer and a guitarist with a 210xst, with a wt550 @ 8 ohms/275 watts....so....maybe it's the head AND the cab....

You're quoting from a thread that has only opinions, there are no official specs anywhere to be found in that link you referenced on the ex410sc4.

Generally the folks that voice their opinions there have a decent idea of what they're talking about. If they don't you will usually see someone correct them.

It's not a very heavily trafficked site, most of the replies are from a very small group of folks that are Eden fanatics.

Take it with a grain of salt, sure, but a 260 micro into a 410 that's potentially quieter than a 210 and yeah....volume issues start to make sense.

Edit: I might be missing something but if he is using a ex410 with a wtx....those really are bottom of the barrel gear, in Eden terms. That's really not a good representation of the amps and cabs that made them a big company.

Both pieces were designed as less costly alternatives to their "real" stuff and differs substantially in design from the more expensive gear. I've seen negative feedback regarding both items so...yeah not surprised to hear about volume issues.

IMO sell them buy a used 410xlt and wt400 or 550. That's "real" Eden stuff and won't cost more than $800 or $900 used, total.

If you can't hang with a cajon in a coffeehouse with ANY 410, even with a tiny amp, something is definitely wrong.

His other amp that he says is too loud with the same cab isn't rated at hardly any more power than his Eden.

Unless his gain structure is way, way off, I'd be inclined to think something is wrong with that amp.

Do those things have a mains voltage switch for use in other countries? If so, could it be set in such a way where the amp wants 220 and he's giving it 120?

Really?? I've researched the EX line pretty extensively and is why I have bought a couple of the EX cabs which each has shown absolutely zero volume issues. The EX line is probably one of the better values in bass cabs. How many EX cabs have you played through? I can show you negative feedback on ANY product, but do your research and you'll see the positive feedbacks GREATLY outnumbers the negatives.

Your post is exactly the same reason the link you referred to should not be taken seriously. No factual or hands on experience to back it up, just talk.

Gain is being set right, with loudest and lowest activating the clip light. I realize that this isn't Eden's high end gear, but it's not cheap stuff either. I'm starting to think maybe something is wrong with the head, as it's just way underwhelming in how it performs. Maybe that's just how it is. Also, as a reference, I've compared side by side with an older rumble 100 watt 1 15 combo, and it totally will drown out the eden setup. Eden isn't even close in volume.

This amp is supposed to automatically switch for voltage, but I've wondered if it somehow wasn't working correctly, and could be the culprit.

Possible. Some of this SMPS stuff has built in protection circuits to shut down under low voltage or over voltage situations. I suppose if something is supposed to "automatically sense" it, and that isn't working, it could be starving the amp but letting it stay on.

That's mostly a wild ass guess on my part, and would still be an amp fault/warranty return situation, though it would make the amp pretty weak, as shown in the diagram below. :)

I just hate that there is no head room, with gain set so that the pre doesn't clip, master can only go about 50% up. Anything beyond that just distorts and doesn't get louder.. Up to that point though, it sounds so good. I wonder if a wtx500 would be that much of a difference...
I've heard through other posts that to get the most power out of this amp you need to dime the master and then bring up the input gain. Think of your system like a pa with a power amp. You always turn the power amp up to ten to get the maximum head room. This advice has worked for other people. Good luck.

His OP highly insinuated he was running at 4 ohms, and indeed the only Eden 410 with whizzer cones only comes in 4 ohms, so... it was running at 4 ohms. It's the EX410SC. Seems like Eden has gone away from posting sensitivity numbers for their cabinets now, so no way to tell how efficient it is, but I always heard whizzer drivers are not very efficient.

I have two Eden EX110 8ohm cabs with whizzer cones and they are NO SLOUCHES! The two little guys get VERY LOUD for their size and sound very nice and warm. I use them with GK MB200 and MB500. The warmth almost sounds tubey.

YMMV

I have a WTX264 and it is certainly loud enough with my Aguilar GS 212. Sounds like the OP’s Eden has a problem. I also owned a WTX260 and never had problems getting loud enough in a small room in which I had a Peavey 210 8 ohm cab.

My eden has no umph. Great tone, but no volume or umph behind it. I run it into an eden 410, the cab with the " whizzer" cone speakers in it... 260 watts at 4 ohms and it barely holds up in coffee shop gigs and little outdoor patio gigs. I play in a four piece, with no drummer, just a percussionist on cajon and stuff. Now, I take out an old bxr 300 amp, plug that thing into the same cab and the walls will cave in. Why is this eden so dang whimpy?

Sorry to bring this old post back, but I needed to vent. I've been using this amp lately and I hate it. No matter how I set the gain, "enhancement", and EQ it really disappoints and frustrates me. It sounds interesting enough when I'm trying to dial a tone, but the minute I start playing an actual song with the band it just sounds weak. Impossible to dig with my fingers and produce a satisfying aggressive tone. Not a volume issue. It's like super compressed in a bad way. Treble does not sound good. Sounds dead and underwater anytime I play with the band. If I set the gain "correctly" then I especially don't have dynamics. Like playing soft and digging in produce the same dead sound at nearly the same volume.

I had this amp. It sounded great but had no headroom. I made the mistake about 4 years ago of bringing it to an ice skating rink instead of the Boogie 400+ to save my back. I had to set the gain so high...terrible show. Ditched it shortly after that. Having a coffeehouse head makes no sense to me. My 800 watt head has a master volume I can always turn down.

I suppose my issue is a subjective thing. I usually play a GK 1001rb, but have also enjoyed most all ampegs I've had the chance to play. I'm between wanting to sound like a hard-core bassist (contoured, pretty rattle on top) and Jaco (punchy mids, bridge pickup singing). My GK manages both of these well enough with no addition equipment. This amp seems further from what I want than anything I've played, including fender rumble combo amps. Soon as I'm playing with the band, it feels like it's not responding to my fingers at all. Can only manage a dead dull sound. Any pretty subtleties I notice when dialing a tone fall by the way side when I'm really playing and it makes me feel handicapped lol. Ok I vented enough. Thanks for indulging me
