Anyone else here play the recorder?

My 16 year old son played recorder in middle school along with everyone else. Now he has taken up Irish tin whistle which he says is similar. He has several of them in different keys and a low whistle too. He likes Celtic music. They sound great...he plays electric guitar too. We took the kids to Ireland last summer and after hearing music in the pubs every night he got a tin whistle while we were there and got the bug. He also got the bug from his favorite band, Eluvietie, who play folk/metal and use tin whistles, hurdy gurdy, and other traditional instruments mixed with metal guitars/bass/etc. I just got him a chanter which is sort of a practice bagpipe and is also similiar to the whistles. He wants to learn bagpipes too!! He plays with friends from school and we have family jams at home. Great kid!
