That's my whole point...

I can at least say I've tried it, tasted it, found it rather "meh". I'll be the first to admit it's not my bag!

Life moves on! I'm still happy! :p

I'm actually about to leave so I can get to studying on my CPA cert... one tough cookie!

Broad generalizations of any kind are failed from the offset, simply because they're just that- generalized (and usually unfounded) opinions.

I've heard and seen and read a lot more bashing of the "average" bassist who is actually out there on the radio, on the road, with endorsements, record deals, living a comfortable life playing music that "sucks".

I get it.

Why?

Because I've been there. From my first post, as it always is in my semi-annual contributions to these threads, is about appreciation.

If you can't appreciate some low tuned, fuzzed out, overdriven thick basslines behind some kick@ss double-kicks and wailing guitar solos, great. It just proves my point again, over and over, that it's you are the people who aren't growing and/or appreciating, while you're railing on the people who aren't as fond of your hero for not doing the exact same thing.

Most of the what I (and Billy Sheehan) like to call "jazz weenies" are the people who would have a massive stroke if they heard overdriven guitar for more than 5 seconds.

I was on hiatus for a while from the genre, and glad to be home. It's what moves me, and what makes me happy.

sounds like you're the one who's generalizing and not accepting the opinions of those who think jaco is good calling them jazz wenies and elitiest, yet you want people to respect your opinion.

i do have to agree on one point however, sheehan is better because he can play faster and with more distortion. speed + volume = good, content is overrated.

I could care less-
I'm not out there in every thread of specific bassists, calling everyone else "dumb" and saying "you're just too young and don't get it!"

I only am using extreme examples to get those points across...

Heh? Doesn't speed + volume = more content, just in a different context? In that respect you've just argued against yourself :confused:

Some people just need to be beat over the head more than twice to get it...

This isn't the first time here, or in person I've had to use simple reasoning skills to let "The Holy" realize we, the unclean and unwashed like music too... even if it's not yours.

As I've said before, Jaco and I came from the neighborhood and so I root for the guy. But I can see how others might not like his music or playing and that's cool.

As for the accounting thing all I can say is something I wish somebody had told me when I was your age, 'You'll be so sorry!!'
