The PQ3 is a legendary rig in itself.
We(band I was in during the 70's) ALL used PQ3's after opening for Black Oak Arkansas with Shawn Lane on guitar. Both guitarist used PQ3's run into Crown D60's with the PQ3's CRANKED to the point of distorting like tubes(!!!??!!!), compressing the signal, and sustaining for days. They had Marshall heads turned on but nothing run to them with the PQ3/Crown rigs hidden.
Both guitarists in our band bought the same rig next week and we did the same(dummy Marshalls). Sounds almost like Boston's wide open amps but a little different and more sustained.
The 1st gen's are the ones that distort correctly(like tubes).
GREAT preamps and tone tool(effects loop or in line with existing rigs).

A classy EBS cabinet with a totally ghetto setup on top of it? Is there such a thing as fashion police for amp stacks?! Or are you just playing "Beauty and the Beast"?

I always thought EBS stuff had "the 80's called and wants their amps back" look to it.
I used to have one of those furmans Green version I think? Never liked the sound of it. Paid $80 for mine years ago. I wish I still had it, I would probably dig the sound of it on my stingray or sterling. The Pearce/Intersound IVP-1 is another good preamp. Very warm sounding, semi-parametric eq, "tube sound". heres a pic of one from an old TB auction.
Also wish I still had that unit as well. two effects loops and channel switching! Not a real tube pre, but the approximation was good.

I have been considering finding a more appropriate match. Maybe I should go Pawn-shopping, or look down some dark alleys. Some one might have an old refrigerator that they sealed up a couple of 15's in. I could have a entire dairy themed rig.
