Hopefully people are getting tired of being scammed by the MSM, and all the nonsensical distractions.
I thought I'd posted this in this thread previously. But I can't find it. So here it is again:

The freaky thing is that there used to be a coworker in my department who wasn't very bright and was a stripper part time, probably not a good one since she wasn't very hot. My gut says she made most of her money on guys daring their friends to get a lap dance from her. I'd be worried she'd leave skid marks. Anyway.......
She was always drinking those mega caffeine sugar bomb energy drinks. As if they're not unhealthy enough, they're in those gigantic cans. After many months of her drinking 2-3 of them per shifts and seeming to switch to a different brand. I commented that she was always drinking a new one every week. She then proceeded to "educate" me about energy and energy drinks. Honest to God, she had a can of something and told me "It has electrolytes". She has 4 or 5 kids. It has begun!

What, that Obama gets elected again? If he gets elected again, it's more of what we've seen the last 4 years. If a republican gets in, we'll have more wars and another recession. Definition of insanity: doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results. No matter who is president from the two "choices" we're given, we're screwed. Remember the republican hatred at the end of Bush's term? Now we all hate the democrats, so we'll elect a republican thinking things will be different. Am I the only "nut job" who thinks the majority of people in this country are idiots?
200 odd years ago, people were able to overthrow the most powerful nation on the planet by circulating paper pamphlets and organizing by word of mouth. I can't believe that with the internet, cell phones, and all the other technology that people can't get together and form a NON-VIOLENT group of one united mass to get rid of the system we have and put something into place that we all want, which is a government that works for the people!
I stopped watching the news. Too depressing and too full of fluffy stories on slow days.

apathy. People are not riled up enough to consider it a problem. We complain but as long as it doesn't effect me or my family ($$) I could care less. If we have to get up off the couch that is more effort than most Americans are willing to give.
I sometimes question if a multi-party system similar to Great Britain, Germany, and many other democracies would be a more viable alternative. It will never happen though. But the two-party system the USA has worked before but is currently flawed/broken because compromise is a one-way ticket out of DC.

You are not the only "nut job" that thinks this way, but this isn't the place to have that discussion.

To fill your head with the negativity and BS that all the major papers and networks bring you has far worse effects. People start their mornings with a cup of caffeine and an injection of fear and negativity. And don't even realize what they're doing, because they're so accustomed to it. And the vast majority of people who follow the news are incredibly ill informed.
I get most of my news from talkbass.
Excellent analogy. Being more trained in the sciences, I'm much more of a logistics kind of guy and increasingly moreso as time goes on. As much as I'd love to run for office, my policies would never get me elected in a million years. That and I've done a few things in college and under the influence. I'm just happy people dindn't have smart phones, cameras, videos, and all that crap back then.
I might be too much of a cynic, but my gut tells me that the whole gay marriage was just in time for elections and possibly to distract us from something big. As weak as the conservative base has gotten, I'm somewhat upset that most can't figure out that separation of church and state exists for a reason. This is one of those reasons!! The fact that we've denied rights as well as used them as political pawns is just wrong.
I'm a financial conservative, aka cheap skate. I don't even think the conservatives fall under this any more. Politicians spend just as poorly as the general public. My outlook isn't very good.
Hell, look at the idea of government health care. We don't want to pay more taxes (nobody ever does), yet we want the government to provide good healthcare, AND we don't want to be told what to do. How DARE the govt. tells us to stop smoking! Under this simple principle, I feel that it will never work and we're all basically screwed.......
Question for the anti-news crowd.....are you just not able to separate fact from fiction? I'm not trying to sound like a jerk, it's an honest question. It's not like there is one news station in the whole word to watch. Here where I live, there are seven or eight on TV alone. What makes the internet or radio news more reliable than TV or newspapers?
I watch the news every day as well as check the internet and TBOT. I'll flip between a couple different stations to get another angle or slant on a story I am trying to learn about. I don't find myself being as frustrated or outraged at the quality of news some of you are. Am I just naive?

It's not "fiction", it's a spin or agenda, making it quasi fact. If I don't find the source(s) credible and have to look it up later, why not save myself the steps now?
I see what you mean. If I'm watching a story on TV news that spins off into an agenda, I turn the channel and look for another source, or check online. No biggie.
I mostly don't get the "OMG! The news is terrible. I will never watch it again" crowd. Take it for what it's worth, and train your BS meter to detect fact from fiction.

The thing that drives me nuts is the speculation spun into the story, and the speculation becoming the news or "gospel". Every network does this. I still watch the news, but speculation or opinion should be minimized from the story. News should be the facts, not what one person thinks happened.
Yeah, that makes sense. Usually it is the speculation that causes me to change the channel. I crack up at the on scene reporters some channels use, which are usually kids fresh out of journalism school, reporting on stories then go off on tangents or attempt to read between the lines of what was stated to them. So I laugh and change to another network.

And call me ignorant, I much rather live happy thinking the world is better than it really is, than me one of these paranoid parents that thinks every man is a serial killer/rapist/child molester/ thanks to the news that's what I am, and have to think first before smiling/helping/saying hi to a woman And/or her child.
