Anyone ever played an Esh Bass

Tried one yesterday, very solid balanced pure tone. Plenty of detail and heft even without any on board bass or treble controls. Switching from finger style to slap was natural and overall the construction was very good.

It was like a cross between the sound of my strinberger xl2 with a warwick thumb. It would make a great bass for pop, metal, fusion, modern rock, or even funk.

The model I tried wasneck through.... Anyway those are my first impressions, definately a serious pro bass, features like the volumevand tone bypass prove that these guys are tone purists. I can't wait to try more of their basses!

I had 2 Various, a Notorious (JJ) and a Sovereign (their top of the line model) in the late 90s.
All were 5 strings.
They were very solidly made and played very well. The electronics were rather unorthodox: active, passive, passive w. piezo PU, studio mode (all controls put PU switch bypassed).
They sounded very balanced.

A bit later the company went downhill.
But the company has been relaunched apparently with high quality standards again.

fractiouslowend's bassist checking in here. It's true, I have put a deposit down on the aforementioned ESH Stinger. I've been considering an ESH as my next bass for a while, and I am a massive Type O Negative fan. I found out about it by chance, and was lucky enough to find one still for sale. Got it for a good price too! January can't come soon enough! :D

I owned an Esh J bass: ash, maple, armstrong pickups, some kind of preamp.

Very resonant acoustic tone, but:
- VERY unstable neck.
- could NOT dial out highs

Sold it. Got a Lull with Barts (too warm, too classy looking). Then a Sadowsky Metro (dead wood, no resonance or sing). Now a few Dan Ransoms, these are keepers.
