anyone have a Basswitch Sonic Spark yet?

That is it, that is what I tried to achieve since years, I have invested an awful amount of time and money into this project but I am completely happy with the result...

Now it is several years later and Lehle's RMI Basswitch models are discontinued. Since I did not buy any back when they were in production, I just bought an unsold RMI Basswitch Sonic Spark. My friend is a Lehle dealer here in the US, but he had none in stock; so I bought elsewhere.

May I ask why such a generally critically acclaimed product line was discontinued? I assume that it was the infeasibility of continuing to produce costly models that were not selling well enough. It just seems to me a shame that no more of these fine instruments will be made.

Like all RMI pedals the gain of the Basswitch Sonic Spark is cut and boost (-14/15db), so you can place it at the beginning or the end of your signal chain, place it in an effect loop upfront the amp or in the effect loop of the amp. If you want to run directly a power amp, I would suggest to place the Sonic Spark at the end of the signal chain as other pedals might not like the high gain needed to drive the amp.

Can I use it with a preamp? At this moment I have Mesa Subway Bass DI. If so, where is it better to put it, before or after?

I did. In this bunch of two pedals together, the sound is fantastic! At first I wanted to get rid of Mesa and leave only Lehle, but after playing for some time together I realized that this was a Molotov cocktail and should not be separated
