It was Maree who replied to me. In the end it worked out cheaper for me to go with guitarjapan due to the strength of the Euro over the Dollar, they were great to deal with too.

Yeap, Guitar Japan are also great. In my case it works out a couple hundred AUD cheaper going through JVG since I don't have to cop overseas shipping or import costs, win for me! PM me with what you paid, I'm curious :)

Yep. Sometimes it's hard to believe they get away with those prices over here. Even when I see some of the second hand gear here on TB, like SR5's going for less than $1000 which is about €680 according to Xe today. A new SR5 is about €2500 in the shops here. It definitely pays to shop around... which is how I found Bacchus in the first place :)

I emailed the contact at deviser.jp, curious if they could put together something more suited to my aesthetic needs, namely an olympic white (matching headstock) ash woodline classic J 5-er with abalone blocks on a rosewood board, but without that horrible bridge like on all the upper models!
That 2-piece bridge has so far been the only turn off from bacchus for me! It works my streamer but on a J >;(
has anyone had any dealings with them for an instrument a little more customised? I'll return to this thread with the response from Deviser.

You should also get in touch with the guys at JVG (www.japanvintageguitars.com). They will be able to communicate your needs better to the people at Bacchus than trying to do it yourself direct. It will also be easier to purchase through them if you decide to go ahead with it.

I'm getting one custom built at the moment. They can build anything you want, your specs look fine. You'd have to choose a different bridge though, most likely a Gotoh. Just speak to Maree at JVG, tell her Rick sent you; [email protected]

EDIT: I should also mention that the guys at Bacchus are on leave until the 7th, so depending on when you emailed them it may take a little longer for a reply. Like I said, send your specs to JVG and they'll get you a quote no problemo.

Thanks Rick, you are both a blessing and a curse for putting me onto these Jazzes, I almost had enough money saved up for something that wouldn't be scowled upon by my immediate family for getting! :bawl:
CHeers again for the links and advice, I'll hit them up for sure, not quite certain if I'll lay a downpayment or not.
Only time will tell, maybe if the price is right?

You'll be pleasantly surprised by the price. One thing though, Bacchus make all their 5 strings with 18mm spacing, so if you wanted 19mm spacing with a non-standard bridge, it would cost a lot more since they have to completely redesign the necks. I recommend you stick with the 18mm spacing and see if they can use the Gotoh 205B-5 or the J510BO-5. I'm sure there'd be no problem.
