Anyone here have sleep apnea?

Neat. Wikipedia mentions "alternative" treatments involve playing didjeridu to help tighten the airway muscles that may become obstructive.

I like Didjeridu. Of course, I'll wait for prognosis, but is one hell of a cool thing, and an excuse to learn. :smug:
Does anyone need me to buy one on your behalf? If CPAP machines are $2,000, I'll only charge $1,100 (plus shipping) for a didj because that's the generous sort of guy I am. Spend the $900 I saved you on bass equipment :)

I'm not ready for a CPAP machine. I just can't bring myself to do it. Surgery is too "hit & miss". The mouth guard looks interesting though...............

In the process of scheduling my sleep study too. I'm horribly overweight and have allergies, I did the test with the blood/oxygen meter on my finger and that showed that I needed to do a full sleep study. I also need to lose weight and not be around smokers as much - my town is non-smoking now, so that helps when playing out.

Try losing weight as was suggested. When I got up in the 320's, I was totally ready for the machine and all of that. I slimmed down, and the problem is barely noticeable. So minimal that my doctor does not feel a machine is necessary.

I'm not saying losing weight will cure sleep apnea, but losing weight will definitely cut down on the heavy snoring that doesn't allow you to fall completely asleep.

I have sleep apnea and took the test. However, in the test they hooked up the oxygen and I slept comfortably and I am in no rush to take the test again. I do have a "snore-guard" mouthpiece, but I don't wear it every night because I tend to wake up with a sore jaw when I do wear it. One of my office mates uses a CPAP and it's been a life saver for him. Since I am not that much overweight, perhaps I'll look into the melatonin mentioned earlier.

I just had a sleep study last week, they came in halfway through the night due to a lot of Apneas in a few hours. They hooked me up to a CPAP and even though I only had 4 hours on it I felt better the next day than I have in years!!!!!

I have a bout 2-3 weeks left before my machine comes!!!!

After struggling with a CPAP machine for over a year and buying all sorts of different gadgets and fancy pillows, I was finally able to get a Mandibular Advancement Device (MAD), which wasn't cheap even with insurance covering part of it, but worth every penny. Literally life-changing – and possibly life-saving. Like I didn't even know what a good night's sleep was for the first forty years of my life. I don't know anything about those other anti-snoring devices. This was custom-made from molds taken by my dentist. I strongly recommend you look into it. Okay, now back to bass.
