Does anyone have a closeup pic of Quarter Rounds they can share, and what were silk colors?
I may have a set that came on a bass I bought a while ago (seller said they were LaBellas and had a shiny-ish outer wrap, but definitely weren't as smooth as full LaBella flats).
As I was researching on the La Bella QRs several years ago, I vaguely remember reading about the light set (760QL, 42-60-82-104) having red silk and the medium set (760QM, 45-63-85-107) having black silk, which corresponded with the light set of the DTB Flats (760FL, 43-60-82-104) with red silk and the standard set (760FS, 45-65-85-105)) with black silk.Earlier this year, I misidentified the strings a used bass came with as GHS Pressurewounds but when I received a new set of PWs, they definitely were not the same string. I posted in another thread and someone suggested the old strings might have been LB Quarter Rounds, however, they did have black silks on both ends.
Did LB QRs ever have black silks at both ends?
Hey @michael_t ! You actually helped me narrow down that my mystery strings might be QRs over on the Pressurewound thread. The close up of the E that TwototheValley posted just seems so much flatter than the E in my pic. It gives the impression that my mystery strings aren't ground down, yet had black silks on both ends. Ah, but maybe I'm just searching for an certainty that's unattainableAs I was researching on the La Bella QRs several years ago, I vaguely remember reading about the light set (760QL, 42-60-82-104) having red silk and the medium set (760QM, 45-63-85-107) having black silk, which corresponded with the light set of the DTB Flats (760FL, 43-60-82-104) with red silk and the standard set (760FS, 45-65-85-105)) with black silk.
Looking at the pic of the black silks at the tuner end, the one that's on the bass is GHS the way it's finished with a tight spiral under the silk, while the one held against it looks very much like La Bella.Silk at tuner end
