Just found out about a custom string maker here in L.A called Guadalupe Custom Strings in East L.A. They seem to make every kind of strings for guitars, basses, ukes, guitarron, etc. and their prices are very reasonable.

Anyone have experience using them?

Their prices are very reasonable. They are winding my first set of strings from them tomorrow.

They seem to feel that round is better.

Looking at it as an engineer, it would seem that hex would make winding easier as the edges "grab" the windings, but the fit of the winding to the core could vary slightly. Well, we will get the whole story when we visit them. I will take photos if allowed and post them.

If I am free that day, I would like to participate and meet some fellow SoCal TB'ers and eat some (hopefully) fine LA cuisine. I'm coming from Huntington Beach/Fountain Valley area.
What time were you all meeting up and where?

The parking situation at my place makes it inefficient for a bunch of heads to pow wow here, but I can accommodate a few. I just need to make sure nothing unbendable pops up.

Bassamatic, have you contacted Guadalupe, and are they okay with giving a group tour?
