Anyone knows more details about this jazz special mij?

I have the fretted version (got it new in 85, my first bass). I bought a matching fretless in 89 or 90, but had to sell it. Man, I wish I still it! One of my biggest musical regrets.
At any rate, I'm pretty sure Fender didn't offer a lined fretless version (not that it looks factory, IMO).

Yoj mean for the Jazz special. They have lined fretless of standart jazz, I think made in Mexico.

First, I cant tell bc Im not familiar with basses, but I just looked a d saw that the fretless jazz specials are without the dots, so its not a fretless

Oh.. no, thsts not the case, I thought you meant that when they took the stickers off the paint went off with it... yes, the word residue... wasnt paying attention (English isnt my native language)

Well, I have the talent, technic was my main problem, as I was too lazy to practice, but now I feel ready.... if you have any recomondation for onlkne sites for lessons I will be happy to here. I know best thing is to get a teacher, but I can't for a several reasons ( not money issue)

Actually the work they did on the neck gives me the creeps Once I did something like that to a Ibanez Blazer and I´m still regretting, was a lousy work too and the bass ended its days in the garden, outside for decoration ...

Take your´s to the doctor, its a great bass only needs professional treatment, I would refinish the neck but its up to you

When you say refinish the neck, how exactly do you mean? (Is refinish means recoloring or put the frers back, or what? Thanks

Apply 2 or 3 layer´s of a specific mate varnish, look in tube how to do it properly, the neck looks very harsh. restore it. I belive you dont want to switch the neck,restore the frets its out of question, but first it needs a complete neck setup. Do the best with what you already have and dont spend much money

If you are inclined to DIY, the neck can certainly be cleaned up with lots of hard work and not too technical job that someone with little or no experience can certainly do.

Essentially, you would just need to clean all the gunk (looks like Bondo) out of the fret slots with a little saw and exacto knife, and then superglue slightly oversized strips of plastic into each one, then finally sand it back to smooth with a radiused sanding block.

It's something a shop would probably charge a lot of money for because of the time involved to clean the bondo off, but you can certainly do it yourself, especially with TB help.
