Anyone likes G&L L2000?

I really dig the bass. It's really raw, growly and full of mids.

the neck PU (series) in passive with the tone controls set right does a really nice P tone.

Thicker neck is nice with the narrow spacing.
I've never played a USA G&L, but I can't imagine it being all that much better either?

i bought one of the ebony boarded L-2000s that Joebone (above) previously owned. in fact, i bought it twice!


you remember her, right JB?

Joebone makes some very valid points, but you have to understand that he has a wine taster's ear and he was looking for something very specific.

still, i imagine when he sees the blue lovely again, he'll start rethinking his G&L stance. he's right though, and for him this bass is wrong.

the lure of the mighty L-2000 is strong and even when it doesn't exactly work for you, you really wish it did.

i play rock and roll and this is the only bass for me...

I found that if I need a more traditional, less growly signature G&L tone....I just back off the mids on my amp a little (from where it would be with a Fender Jazz, for instance).

Combine that with not always running the volume at 100%......

the G&L pickups are so hot, that you really have to resist the urge to dime all the controls. and not just because can crush the front end of your amp, but because there's a whole 'nother world in there.

if you told me a couple years ago that i would have my bass control turned down to about 20-30%, i would have laughed at you.

Chunkstyle is KILLING me with remembrances of things past!

This particular bass -- I called her "La Cobalta"-- sounds great, feels great, looks great...but I just couldn't get quite what I was looking for.

Oh well, I know she now has a good home.

So true, as I recently discovered myself. So very true.

Yep, That and getting people to rethink their amp eq settings has made many go from G&L indifference/hate to G&L love. You really have to approch this bass with a "start over" concept. Your favorite EQ settings you are used to, diming everything on the bass, pickup height, etc. are all a new ball game with these pups.

I just picked a Tribby L 2000 to replace my Schecter...

I cant believe I waited this long to get one. This is my perma bass. Words fail to describe how pleased I am with this new purchase. It is perfect for my Tool tribute band.
Now I want a blue burst...
I am forever now a G&L owner, all my other basses except for a passive squire are going bye bye! That one will go the wayside too as soon as I get a 2nd L2K.
