Anyone miss Graphic EQs on amps?

I guess you can still get them on an Ampeg SVT 3/4 PRO, but that's all I know for current production. Maybe I'm just being nostalgic for the old Trace amps, but I miss the ease of grabbing a slider to boost or cut. Was really surprised when Peavy brought out the TE-1200 with no GEQ.

Forgot about Darkglass. About every two years I buy something Darkglass and then sell it within a month. Just don't jive with the Darkglass sound all that much. But I do want one of the BFR Korina DarkRays. Same thing with EBMM, buy it, sell it soon after. Would Darkglass + EBMM double the whatever it is I don't like or offset leading to a great bass?

The old amps I remember with graphic eq's on there were all noisy; those I don't miss. My Source Audio EQ2's (which operate essentially as parametric eq's, but which look on the face like graphics) - those work great. I don't have an amp per se on any of my gigs any more - my pedalboard is my "amp", and the Source Audio EQ2's (I have one on each of 2 boards) - those function as eq, gain, a limiter, high and low pass (think of the low pass as a cab sim), and...they also are my tuners.

Hard no on that. I always just wound up making a big ole' U shape with the graphic eq and then just turn it off it was an option. Loved the old Hartke heads and could get some great sounds, but it stressed me out. One of my best friends on earth that I played in a band with would mess with me constantly and just push all the sliders down. Panic attack would ensue lol.

The Darkglass amps have a button to disable the Microtubes circuitry, so that they can sound like other 'plain jane' amps.

With so much going on with modern bass rigs there isn't the need there once was.

• Basses often have a 3-band EQ
• We're running preamp pedals with, quite often, a 3-band EQ
• Many pedals run an Impulse Response and send that to the desk, which is a fancy EQ you can select.

Back in the 80s it was mostly

• Passive bass > amp > desk

And what was if you were lucky.

For a bass amp I don't find them particularly useful, IME. It was more involved to set the EQ when I had my Ashdown in the mid '00s.

I could never play like him, anyway...

Absolutely I miss them.
My amps don't have them but I wish they did. So I am buying an EQ pedal this afternoon for an outdoor gig this weekend.
It'll be my first ever pedalboard in 20+ years of playing bass (TU3, ODB-3, GEB-7).

Those old Trace amps had a 30hz cut that would have a hit with the HPF crowd.

I love graphic EQs and learned on them so I feel comfortable using them; but my MXR six-band EQ pedal takes care of that with my newer setups.

i have rigs/amps that have (or incorporate) graphic EQs = i use them if they're available.
i have amps/rigs that don't = not a problem, i'll EQ with what's available. IMO, four knobs are better than three!

do i "miss" them? sure, a little bit.
