Anyone pair GK Neo with non GK head?

And how do you like it? Do gk neos add a lot of gk sound or are they transparent?

I use the GK neo's with my Mesa Walkabout sometimes, as does NOLA.

I wouldn't call the GK cabs transparent, no: they're pretty mid present, tight low end, pretty crisp highs.

But, I'd also say a lot of the GK sound is in their heads.

Yes, I've run my Ampeg SVT-1000 into two GK NEO 212's. Sounded OK, but not as good as with the GK 1001RB-II head. However, I think that's a function of the heads and not the GK NEO cabinets. The GK head just sounds richer (to my ear anyway) than the Ampeg. I've also tried this with two Avatar NEO 410's and, once again, the GK head sounds better to me than the Ampeg.

Shuttle 6 w. GK 410 at a gig once. A LOT more mids through the GK cab.

Yep run either a hartke lh1000 (live shows) or an Ampeg svt 3 pro (recording) through a GK neo 8x10. Either one sounds good I am thinking about getting rid of the 3 pro and getting a 1001rb or 2001rb to pair with it.

Ampeg SVT-7 Pro into two GK 210 Neos. Sweet, warm, punchy and loud! Just a big sound.
