What would be different from a bass cab and a bass speaker other than the closed cab with my Hot Rod Deluxe? Would keeping the stock speaker be a breaking hazard if playing at high volumes?

Anyone Playing Thier Bass Through a Guitar Amp ?

I used to play my 4001 through a Sound City 4x10 cab, and it was fun for a while. Though couldn't shape the sound with the EQ as far as I would have liked. I actually received a few comments from people who said, 'I don't like your sound...' Come to think of it, playing bass through a guitar amp is a pretty stupid idea.

I don't consider myself stupid to try something different. Your opinion is subjective.

Nah, playing bass through a guitar speaker cab is a pretty stupid idea. Some amps are great for both.
I brought one home this afternoon...amazing tone for a supposed guitar head.

I recently plugged my Pignose G40V into a BagEnd S15 cab. The Pignose is a 40 watt all tube amp. The internal speaker is easy to unplug and the amp has 1/4" outputs for 4 and 8 ohm speakers.
The tone is really great from this setup. It breaks up too early for my taste - it has volume and master volume controls, so I keep the volume low and crank the master. The tube breakup is very musical, and it gets surprisingly loud. I could daisy chain two S15 cabs for 4 ohms, and I bet it would be loud enough to play with a reasonable drummer. The tone stack isn't perfect, but It's serviceable, and I'm planning on trying different preamps - SABDDI, VT Deluxe, TC Electronics Spark, Joyo American Sound, etc in front of it to see if that helps.
I'm honestly a little surprised at how good this amp sounds through the BagEnd cab. I've been planning on selling the amp, but now I'm definitely keeping it. I suspect other guitar tube amps through bass speakers would sound really good as well.
I have three places I practice - my studio has a Markbass K1. My living room has a Trace Elliot Elf on a Markbass 102P and my flat in Manchester where I work has a small 20Watt Fender guitar amp. Can't alway decide which one I like most but I've certainly have no problems with the guitar amp - it's like having a high pass filter.
