Anyone Run a Hipshop Bass XTender On A Stingray?

I can't get an answer from Hipshot regarding if any of their Xtenders will fit my Sterling RAY24 bass. Looks like most of them are too big and will interfere with the G string tuner. Just wondering what other Stingray owners are running on theirs if it's possible. I may have to replace all of the tuners (which aren't that great to begin with) if necessary. Probably would go with a set of Ultralites to keep the weight down.

I think the Ultralites with the extender key is the best option.

I have one (BT1 model) on an EBMM Sterling (which has a smaller headstock than a Stingray) and it fits. I used to have one on a Big Al also (also a smaller headstock) and it fit. In other words, go for it.

No problem with the BT-1 on the EBMM. The SMMM tuners have a different shape baseplate and the BT-7 is the drop-in replacement - there should be no interference;

Heard back from Oscar this morning and he said the closest to a retro fit is the BT7. However two of the mounting holes won't line up with the stock holes.

Still debating whether to just switch everything out with Ultralites even though those will expose all four mounting holes on the back. Most of the audience won't notice the difference anyway.

I had a Hip shot on my stingray , had to drill a couple of holes to get it to fit ,but that was some time ago... used it for a few Pink Floyd tunes , afterwards I took it off

I can guarantee nobody will notice but you. I put ultralights on just about all of my basses with Fender style tuners. Unless having a couple small holes that nobody can see on the back of your headstock that nobody but you knows are there, bothers your OCD, it's not an issue. Additionally, they are there in case you decide to swap back to the original tuners. You can always fill the holes with toothpicks and a little wood glue if it bothers you that much.

Save the screws from the original tuners and put those in the holes!
