Anyone still using DR Pure Blues?

I would even add I hear tonalities I never heard before with precision bass tone open and Traynor combo tweeter switched on.
I tried to pick up a set at the local GC last week. Unfortunately the only set they had looked like it was run over by a forklift. I settled for Fender nickels and I was utterly disappointed.
At one point I wondered if I had put on a stainless set because of the zing.

Well, many people endure rough steel strings for the zing, although it is short-lived.

I don’t know what the longevity of the Pure blues will be, and I will try them on my split-coil p bass tomorrow (today I put my first set on a Squier 50s single-coil p bass which has its own very particular richness and brightness).

It’s funny what you saw with the Pure Blues package looking like it was run over by a forklift. Last week I was at GC and bought a pack of DR High Beams and all of the DR string packs looked exactly like that. The guy there said they were shipped from the corporate warehouse at the bottom of a box with heavy items on top. Maybe other locations had their DR’s delivered that way? Anyway I still bought them and and sounded stellar as always.

All the DR bass strings looked like that.
I don't do the steel ones. Too noisy for me.

They've lasted me a long time.
When I had my Lakland 5er they were all I used.
I bought EB slinkys last time around because they were cheap but at some point I'm moving back to PB.

I just removed these same strings strings today, EB hybrid slinkies, they were 2-for-1 last year, I would usually use Rotosound nickels before. The EBs were ok, the Pure Blues are special, now I wonder how the Rotosounds would compare, can’t quite remember.
I don't care for the Cobalt ones but do like the regular slinkys ok. They've lasted a while on my basses.

Love DR's in general... Have sets in Hi-beams, Sunbeams, Fat beams and Pure Blues. All sound so good that I switch around. Feel something is wrong with me, but I like to switch up. Feel Sunbeams are the middle ground that sound bright for Nickels yet good on your frets. I do like changing strings. Just a note Fret Nation sells strings at such a great price. Sometimes you wait longer than normal but at times you don't. But the prices are excellent.

I just tried DR Pure Blues. Very bright and dynamic sound, bright like steel but without the zing. Different tone but same soft feel as other nickel strings I have used.
This is EXACTLY how I’d describe the Pure Blues. I’ve been a DR fanatic since I moved here in the States, used Hi-Beams and Fat-Beams on my Fenders.

Today I drove to my local GC and yes the lot of them looked like the boxes have seen better days. I picked up my first set of Pure Blues! Installed on my Sterling SB14 and… wow. That SS zing with a low, low growl.

While stringing up the newly cleaned 10-year-old Sterling, I realized that the strings and the bass are responding exceptionally well to low tunings (I was tuning up in tuning increments starting with BEAD). So now it’s staying in DGCF! The .105 gauge string can also do a low C if need be…

Overall I love it, and with the HOT ceramic pickup might be good for some Gojira-type metal.

I have been using Nickel Lo Riders but have been trying the Pure Blues. To me they have a little more tension which I like better. The tone is slightly fuller with more thump and plenty of growl on my Jazz bass. I think I’m going to switch permanently.
More tension than the Lo Riders? Same gauge? IME, the the Lo Riders had more tension. Either way, the Pure Blues are great strings.

I love the Pure Blues. Still my go to for rounds. Just ordered a set of Sunbeams today because I haven't done a string experiment in a long time and realized I've never tried them on my Moollon P...or on a P bass in general.

Just ordered a set today. I’ll probably put them on my Ibanez Roadstar II RB630. I’ve had D’Addario Chromes on it for a month and haven’t gelled with that set; I put on my backup set of D’Addario ProSteels yesterday but I’m anxious to try the Pure Blues.

I tune this bass in D Standard (like all of my basses) and I ordered the 45-105 set of PBs.

I had two packs of fresh strings sitting around, Black Beauties and PB. Both of my main players needed a string change.
I put the BB on my strandberg and the PB on my Bongo.
I think I should have gone the other way around. The PB don't seem to jive with the Bongo, where now I think they might have with the strandberg.
Live and learn. And I already clipped the BB's so I can't swap (L&L part deux).
My overall impression of the PB's are that, they don't really leave an impression on me. Kind of meh.

I had Black Beauties on my Fender Deluxe Jazz for years and wanted a change of pace and tried PBs on it and like it quite a bit. But the itch I was looking to scratch with that is now being filled with an aggressive Reverend Triad. I think the Jazz will go back to Black and maybe try PBs on the Triad.
