Anyone still using Elixir nanoweb strings?

They sound surprisingly similar to stainless steel strings. If you A/B and record them with Stainless strings you'd be surprised. I'd definitely consider them brighter rather than mellow or darker.

Huh. I never thought so at all. I always liked Elixir because they sound like a broken in set of rounds, and stay that way without getting "thuddy".

Many moons ago I did have a set of the first polyweb stings. They sounded like a set 2 week old nickels, but never changed tone after that. I think I had them on a bass for over a year until they started to unravel.

I don't use anything but Elixirs. Best bet is to find an internet store for the cheapest price, but for those complaining about costs in the U.S., you should see the prices here in Europe!:hmm: Still worth every penny though as they last waaaaay longer for my uses and require less maintenance on your bass from changing strings every 5 minutes (if you are Anthony Jackson ;))

Added bonuses are consistant recording tone day-after-day and less 'finger-squeak' due to the coating.

...................Man I gotta get a job working for Elixir!:D Basically they are a godsend for the slightly-sweaty-handed-player-who-kills-strings-too-quickly-while touring-type-person!

damn straight, a few years ago stores here wanted $180 for a set of nanowebs.

even now they retail for $100

i recently bought a bulk lot of 5 @ $35-$40 a pack. Im set for a long while :D

Yeah, I have a set on my Sandberg California PM5. They were on there when I bought the bass....2 years ago and I play that bass in a heavy band with a 1mm pick. No unravelling and they sound just as bright as when I first bought the bass.

Yeah sure, a set is more expensive than a set of "normal" strings but the Ernies I use on my P Bass don't last 2 years. 2 months maybe but not 2 years like the Elixirs. The higher price of the Elixirs, for me anyway is cancelled out by the fact that I'm not having to buy new sets every verse end. :)
