Anyone Tried the Paleo Diet?

Considering going on the Paleo diet in the near future. A co-worker of mine had pretty good results when he did it for 5 months, he has relaxed a bit on it, but said he might hop back in after a while.

I have to restrict my intake of dairy anyhow since I'm lactose intolerant, but I'm mainly hopping into this for digestive health and probably to try and bolster myself with better nutrients as I get back into regular exercise again. Anybody try this or any other "no-dairy" diets that they've had good results with?

My little sister is a PA and massive health nut. Loves to do 100 mile bike rides, that kind of thing. She's been doing the Paleo lifestyle for a number of years and recommends it to everyone. She's so healthy it's sickening.

My son did the paleo diet for a while. I could dig the caveman aspect to eating pretty much nothing but meat but I do like my pasta and wouldn't go without it for very long.

I never set out to intentionally do that particular diet, but what I do is very close, and it seems to work for me. I avoid processed sugars, white flour, bread, and definitely soy and processed food. I have been losing weight because of it, and I don't feel badly, either. I have a lot more energy. I do sneak the cheese in there, though, otherwise I'd go cuckoo for cocoa puffs. Also, I cut out almost all alcohol, although I do sample some of my friend's home brews every great once in a while.
I went for a while only eating tuna, steamed broccoli and cauliflower, and nuts. I had a lot of energy and lost a lot of weight, but I had to stabilize my diet after I saw some pictures of myself with other people and realized that I actually looked blue.

Anyway, I generally only eat foods that would have been available to people before the invention of industrial food.

The less your body takes in food that has been touched by man, the better off it will be. That's it in a nutshell.
Fear not Darth - I don't handle it since meating you.:D

But seriously - it's a great idea. Our bodies are made to eat very unrefined products with no problem. I've eaten a very close to Paleo diet for decades. Pasta is rare, white rice never crosses our threshold unless it's in someone's gut :) The wife and I buy a 1/2 gallon of milk and 3 weeks later throw half away. Buy good/strong tasting cheeses and eat less.

I screw up the benefits of Paleo by drinking beer.
