If we did everything cavemen did we'd still be dying before 40, from things like infections from small cuts. Nothing but another gimmic.
I've got some mastodon for her.^Hippy cowgirls love them some Mastodon.

Fear not Darth - I don't handle it since meating you.
But seriously - it's a great idea. Our bodies are made to eat very unrefined products with no problem. I've eaten a very close to Paleo diet for decades. Pasta is rare, white rice never crosses our threshold unless it's in someone's gutThe wife and I buy a 1/2 gallon of milk and 3 weeks later throw half away. Buy good/strong tasting cheeses and eat less.
I screw up the benefits of Paleo by drinking beer.
I look about like your before picture - darn it, I am going keto. My youngest kid moves out in a week, the wife is getting her rubenesque ass on board with me or she is cooking and eating alone!! I just ate 3 eggs, no butter, no toast. I feel like a killing machine already.I haven't been exactly on paleo, but I've started keto last year. Basically eliminating carbs and sugars, and sticking with a diet high in protein and fats. Hardest part is figuring out what kind of snacks works for you. I don't eat vegetables, so that was another struggle. I went from 214 to 160. And then I bought a house that needed lots of work at the beginning of the year. I was back and forth between the house and my apartment so cooking was a struggle. So I then decided to lay off the full blown ketosis, and just casually change my diet while I was between the house and apartment. I managed to gain about 10 pounds up to 170, but just my casually limiting the carbs and not eating full blown whatever I want, I've been able to keep my weight steady and not go above it.
I'm currently looking to get back into full blown ketosis to get down to about 155 and then look into switching to paleo or a lightened form of it. I still eat what I want, but I balance it out.
In case you weren't sure, your body first tries to burn carbs and sugars. When you eliminate these, your metabolism flips and starts to burn your stored fat for energy. So my diet consists of a LOT of bacon, eggs, steak, cheese, pork rinds, monster no sugar/carbs energy drinks, and a chocolate mousse recipe from caveman keto. When you're in ketosis, you can actually measure it. Cvs and other places have "Ketostix", these sticks you pee on to show how many ketones are in your urine. So you can actually tell if you're in fat-burning mode or not.
Not trying to derail, a lot of keto people end up doing some kind of form of paleo. And that's my goal as well. Oh and my weight loss was with minimal working out. It was about 90% diet. View attachment 437132

I'm thinking if a fad diet helps get someone motivated it's better than doing nothing.I'd agree if the goal is just another quickie weight loss for swimsuit season scheme, but apparently this is more than a diet and involves more than just food intake to be really effective. It has been around for quite a number of years and the diet aspect of it is only just now being exploited as the "next great thing" in weight loss. Like any lifestyle, it only works with a combination of diet and exercise.

Some mastodon sausage would go well with eggs, but eggs?? did we even have chickens back then?I look about like your before picture - darn it, I am going keto. Atkins was an unhealthy version of this.
Brain needs a certain amount of carb to thrive.
Fruit can accomplish this.
Atkins did not allow fruit.
