Anyone use the SFX Ultra Tone?

I want a B3 ... you'll hear from me soon.

What are the possibilities of the B3 circuit in a box with two presets ... that is with options 'off' 'channel 1' 'channel 2' with channel 1 and channel 2 each having dedicated vol/tone/scoop controls ?

Andy

I don't see any problem in building a 2 channel version. I like the idea :bassist:

Just got a lightning fast response from Max about a custom B3 and Thumpinator combo pedal with a blanced DI out. :hyper:

Anyone object to me posting updates here in this thread?

I was thinking about something similar but I thought the Thumpinator should be last in the signal path and I usually like tone shaping up near the front. Are you going to put an effects loop on it? I also may get a Thumpinator to put in my amp's effects loop. Should be a cool pedal. I can't wait to try out my B^3!

I would run it at the end of my chain, but a loop would be cool to insert fx between the B3 and the Thump.

I am/was also discussing a custom preamp with Max containing the Ultra Tone, Thumpinator, Red Dragon, Micro EQ (with semiparametric mid) and multiple DI's for IEM, FOH and Poweramp. But as no-one wants to buy my amp, which I need the money from, and I have the ominous feeling my band might break up, these plans are in the fridge.

I considered a full featured bass channel strip as well, but money is tight these days...

I am going to have Max do a B3/Thump combo, though.

I definitely agree about putting a loop insert between the B^3 and the Thump, unless you wanted to put the B^3 at the end of your chain too--which should be fine. There are some effects that can create the sort of subharmonic mess that the Thump was designed to fix.

Really ? Any particular kind of pedal ? Or brand ?

If I understand correctly, my MarkBass LM Tube 800 has a low pass filter. So I'm wondering if I would even need a Thumpinator.

That's interesting, I wonder if I'm similarly protected with a (1st gen) Markbass Combo 121P ? Will have to research.

I'm toying with something similar, but smaller scale. 3-channels, B3 , B3 (or ultratone) tuned to cut deep like a passive tone, plus a red dragon/ultra tone combo. Three ready-made presets should cope with all I need.

I have a feeling though I'm going to acquire them as separate pedals, one-by-one.
