I've heard of this.

At least you're not moving in Montreal on the one day a year when everybody who is moving moves. I think that's in July.

Good luck!

I was gonna say, i live in montreal, i bet i moved more in the past ten years than anyone here. Actually its not so bad, i haven't moved in four years now. But in the ten years ive been here (actually will be ten in a few days) i moved 7 times.

And yeah, moving day is july 1st. Thankfully though i have tried to avoid moving on that date and have managed to most times. If you want to deal with a moving company, you better reserve months in advance. You'll still have to pay them twice what they would be paid normally. And for those wondering why we all move on the same day generally, here's wikipedia:

When I graduated from college, my (now) wife and I moved from Michigan to Oregon with the entirety of our possessions in a Chevy Corsica.

When we moved back to Michigan 6 years later, and after getting rid of about 50% of our furniture, we filled a 28' moving truck floor to ceiling... plus filled our car which we towed on a trailer behind the moving truck.
