Are Cataldo Basses Any Good

Here is my Cataldo I bought 2nd hand on reverb last year. It's my # 1 player. The neck is a bit thick, I would have preferred a thick 1 & 1/2" neck instead of the 1 & 11/16" neck, but I can live with it. It sounds great, has a nice medium weight to it and the action is low and no fret buzzing anywhere, or dead spots. Cataldo puts a lot of love and elbow grease into his basses.

And here it is before it was desecrated.

I am not sure if you are using sarcasm Mr. Cataldo but I certainly didn’t mean to desecrate the instrument or insult your artistic sensibilities, I merely modified it to suit my needs. The back volume/tone pot was placed to close to the input jack and so the pot would never stay tight for too long. As for the bridge I am just experimenting with a bridge I had laying around that fit, I still have the original one, and did not add any holes to it, except for the tone knob. My intended point was that your instruments are great and anyone having any doubts should have no worries thst they will get a great instrument.

I got to say there is a fellow with a youtube video playing a thunderbird style Cataldo bass on his cover of the Who's Baba O'Riley and it couldn't sound any better.....really Entwistle like... if you follow. The musician's name is Jonathan Campagna.
