The dude from Opeth plays a Marcus Miller sig Jazz. Justin Meldal-Johnsen used Geddys on the NIN tour, along with a few guitars that were almost all sig models. I see quite a few pro bassists using Epiphone Jack Casadys. And everyone who has ever owned a Les Paul uses a sig model. I don't see what the big deal is...either you like an instrument or you don't, and getting all wrapped in it being a sig model is silly. Who cares?
I've seen Abe Laboriel play a Yamaha Nathan East model in photos. Adam Clayton and Juan Alderete play/own Lakland Darryl Jones models, and I think I read that Clayton is also playing a Sadowsky Will Lee on an upcoming U2 project.
Lots of guys playing the Carvin SB(Sekou Bunch)4000 & 5000's. I know Bon Jovi's bassist plays and endorses them as well as Daryll Williams and Ethan Farmer.
