Are We Getting a... dare I say... Following?

My band has been together for about four or five years. We play three to five times a month. I've been with the band for two years now.

We play this one club twice a month. The club staff tells us that when we play there, they do 1.5 to 2 times the liquor than most other bands. We see a lot of the same people there. We've also played a couple other places, but we don't normally see the same people at the other near by clubs.

We had gigs Friday and Saturday nights this weekend. Friday night was at the usual club and Saturday was at another. It was the first time we were at the Saturday night club.

Saturday night, we saw four groups of people (2 couples and 2 groups of ladies) who had also been at our Friday night gig. It was funny to see them see each other. They were surprised to see the other group of people, but obviously were familiar with them. They introduced themselves to each other and told us they came to see us for the second time in one weekend.

Is this the beginning of a following? Hope so. It was real nice to see those same people Friday and Saturday night.

Could be and if so congrats, I am sure you worked very hard to get to this point. That's what you have to do, work hard, get your name out there and make awesome songs and play awesome shows.

It could be that your band just seems to attract the heavy drinkers. :D:D

I recently joined an originals band (they will do a couple of covers but they do them their own way). They have two CD's out and almost enough material for another. They seem to fill the places that they play. After playing, people constantly coming up and complimenting the band and want to know when we're coming back.

Awesome. It ain't easy in any market to develop that kind of loyalty. You're not just competing against other bands and/or venues, but against every other single way a person could spend their Fri/Sat night. Ball game, movies, stay home, etc.

I wouldn't tell anybody about the following though... they'll just expect you to always bring in people and that's a slippery slope.

Congrats though.

Band tabs .... Funny, That brings to mind our front man, years ago he would always take an advance on his salary from the club owner for the week. Most of it was spent at the bar. At the end of the week we all get paid but him, then he would borrow from us.

That's a good idea, not setting expectations so high.

We do all dance covers. The usual that most people do, but we've been concentrating lately more on disco and pop. We do a mixed first set of Motown, oldies, classic rock/pop and calmer music. Our second set is called the "Booty Shakin' Set." It's almost all disco and funk. The third set is a mixed bag depending on the croud. It usually includes mostly current pop tunes and a couple of country tunes. If the croud seems more rock oriented, then we include more of that.
